Not that Brach didn’t deserve to get ignominiously horsefeathers canned, he did, but I’m vaguely upset that he gets blasted into the sun before the most ignoble of terrible players, the one begging for release, figuratively and literally, Daniel DeScalso.

The beauty of this roster is there are just so many choices.

Probably because he is still signed for next year so they are going to give him all of spring training and the first couple weeks next season before he gets the boot. This, provided he's willing to continue to fake an injury the rest of this month.

Brach was probably going to be around next year too. He has/had a player option for like $3.5 mil I think. But glad he’s gone and we’re not letting such a small amount of money keep guys around.

I actually think that was a mutual option that had to be picked up by both sides. I will check on that.

It's kind of like what Kintzler had, where the Cubs had a team option for one amount, and Brach had a player option for a lesser amount. Less money than Kintzler, but I do think we're going to be out of ~$2M next year, which is probably why his leash was so long.

I'm seeing that the Cubs could pay him $5 million next season or buy him out for $100,000.

ETA: Mooney said that at season’s end, the Cubs can choose between re-signing him for $5 million or paying a $100,000 buyout. Brach will also have a $1.35 million player option for 2021.

So, I guess the $1.35 for 2021 might factor in? That's a weird one.

The Mets have signed right-hander Brad Brach, as per the team’s Twitter feed.

He's gonna pitch 18 scoreless innings or something for them, isn't he

have you met the mets?

I'm pretty sure you were roping someone in to post this but whatever

When he picks up his player option next year is he then still a Met or is he again a free agent available for the minimum to anybody like he just was?

If Brad Brach felt he was tipping his changeup with the Cubs, then why didn't Brad Brach stop doing that?

It's weird wording, but I'm guessing that he didn't know until the Mets pointed it out.
