Atlanta visiting the Brewers for a 3 game set starting tonight. Cubs have a good chance of expanding the lead against the Reds (although tonight is gonna be tough).

I hate this post so much because of everything we all know about baseball...........

but, of course, would be nice if you are right.

Eloy got hurt again and Cease is getting beat up by the Royals

they put him on the IL already. it didn't even look like a bad collision but he definitely messed up something in his arm.

quintana sucks but he's somehow he's been worth 2 wins this season? the ball really is broken.

Wonder how much longer the Sox can keep Robert in AAA

It’s ridiculous. Outside of service time, why in the hell would they not bring him up? He can get reps at MLB level.

Brewers pitching is unraveling. Chacin goes 2.1 with 6 ER vs DBacks.

My favorite part is that it's hard to imagine them having the chips to land Stroman over the Twins without giving up Hiura. Pretty much any other SP they might grab is a non-threat barring some surprise

Yeah they’re gonna have to give up Hiura for anything material. They don’t have the horses to get a Stroman, Boyd, Thor, Bauer, etc without him. Wheeler or Minor are probably the best they can do, but Minor makes real money and Wheeler is hurt.

The Cardinals winning after being down 7-0 is infuriating. The Reds must be the most unlucky team over the course of the last few years

Anyway, I think they’re our main rival for the division. The brewers are a mess

Cardinals lose and our division lead will finally be bigger than 2.5 games at the end of all games for the first time this year!
I believe 10 games over is our high watermark and we've hit it twice, only to go on a pretty big slump almost immediately after. Hopefully the 2nd half Super Cubs are truly in effect and we're not just riding a high beating weak teams.

Unfortunately for us, we’ve got 9 straight road games coming up.

I have a feeling this statement could change four or five times in the next month.

Records since the break:

Cubs 7-1

Cardinals 6-3

Brewers 5-4

Reds 3-6

Pirates 2-6

Reds keeping their RD fun alive. Despite the 3-6 record their RD is +2

Cards-Pirates in extras. Cards got 4 in the top half but Pirates have gone double, double, homer, single, reach on error. It’s 6-5 and still no out.
