I bet he sucks and we'll be like "whatever it was good value and how would we know he would suck he had a good (some number you can find on his fangraphs page)."

can you at least stick to being insufferable about the topic at hand and not hypothetical future conversations too

History suggests it is unlikely.

Just want to point out that although this isn't the official thread, this should be the title of the official thread.

Agreed, I saw the Rosenthal tweet before it was posted here and I was going to go for Brachtober as a title if PCP hadn't.

Significantly overused by Buck during his run in Baltimore (Orioles missed a chance to sell high on him two years ago, when he might've commanded a big return), but for this offseason, and the constraints, I do like the move. The fastball isn't as good as it once was, so I doubt he's a consistent late inning option, but if he's not over-used, I imagine there's a chance he could still be a steady pen arm that could potentially help out in the late innings. Sort of Michael Wuertz, for a comparison (and in a similar vein, once Wuertz lost his fastball, he went downhill).

turns out it took so long between reported signing to official because they found out he had freaking mono.

saved the Ricketts some money so it all ended well

Brach's new contract includes a base salary of $1.65 million with a $350,000 bonus available after spending one day on the active 25-man roster. Another $1 million can be earned via time on the active roster ($500,000 for 120 days and $500,000 for 150 days). Then, Brach's deal has a $5 million club option for '20. If the team does not pick that up, he can exercise a $1.35 million player option or take a $100,000 buyout and elect free agency.

The original contract included a $3 million salary for '19 and $4.35 million guaranteed (via a buyout). Now, he can earn $4.35 million by hitting all the bonuses in '19 and picking up the player option for '20. The new contract has a maximum potential value of $8 million, which is under the original reported max value of $9.5 million.
