Tevian Jones is having himself a nice little game.

Sure did, him, Griffin, Ayo, Frazier there's something there when they play with confidence and aggression. While Maryland had the advantage in the front court, I'd say the Illini had the backcourt edge. Took Cowan out the game in the first half and late in the second half, so much better than watching eat up Tejon Lucas. Too bad this effort wasn't there when they lost to a mediocre Wisconsin team the other night.

If they return everyone and they get both Cockburn and January on campus, they might actually be a tournament team again next year.

I agree. Was thinking about all the transfers last season other than Smith did Underwood encourage the remainder of the transfers? In Finke, Lucas, Ebo and Vassel they lost nothing, maybe Underwood thought bite the bullet get better talent, devote a season to development for a brighter future.

He definitely purged the roster. He also took the ball out of Frazier's hands and started running it through Ayo. At first that was a bit ugly. But now it appears to be paying off. I really hope Ayo comes back.

I wouldn’t mind having Ebo backing up Georgi

Yeah I don't think he ran him off. He is one that would have actually helped this year. But, next year if the two bigs both are cleared we are gonna have some depth.

I'm certain fans would state their officiating is the worst in the NCAA however, the Big Ten fans may have an argument -

Here's the no call

And here's a ridiculous "foul" on PSU for Edwards flailing his body at the defender:

Not that it matters much but, officiating was just as terrible the other night in Minneapolis, for most of it, the Gophers were allowed to grab, hold, push, shove, clear out with their off hand - Washington was the most blatant example, surprised Underwood did not lose it and get T'ed up.

I hate that the Big Ten added these Friday night games to the schedule. I'm used to 1 Michigan game between Tuesday and Thursday and then another on Saturday or Sunday. Friday just throws me off and I will probably forget the game is on until there are like 10 mins left in the game.

I like them.

That’s one way to put it. As an NC State fan this game just about broke me emotionally. It was like flipping a coin 100 times and incorrectly calling heads when it fell as tails 98 times.

I’ve looked at this box score 4 or 5 times now and it’s gets more and more unbelievable each time. I mean, scoring 24 points in a half is bad, even if you’re playing Virginia or Wisconsin. And then you’ve got Virginia Tech who only allowed 24 points and couldn’t even double the other team up. If you told Virginia Tech’s coach that they would only score 47, he would assume they’d lose by 15. Plus this wasn’t the worst team in the conference; NC State was ranked.

None of it makes sense.

I watched 90 percent of the game. I mean the defense was good on both ends (obligatory) but ffs both teams just literally couldn’t make wide open shots. VT started pressing the issue and got some FT points and had a few 3’s fall. That was enough. Just horribly bad luck for both teams. I felt bad for just about all the players on the court. It was surreal and it sucked and I’m worse person for having to witness it.

Nice to see Illinois finally break through with a big win Tuesday. Outside shot at getting to 9-11 in conference if they don't lay any eggs.

Side note, Illinois' schedule this year ended up being hilariously difficult. As of today's KP ratings, they will end the year having played just 4 teams outside the top 100: FAU (yikes), UNLV, Evansville in the top 200, and MVSU, one of the worst teams in D1. Schedule second only to Kansas in strength.

They are kind of fun to watch right now. That schedule may have helped them grow up. Really hope Ayo comes back.

Me to, there's no reason for him to leave, with the way things appear to be lining up he may be able to play himself into the top 10 for 2020.

Major Louisville meltdown in progress. They were up 19 with 6:43 left but after a string of terrible turnovers it’s down to 5 with 3:30 left. Nobody wants the ball and they’re throwing it all over. In that span they’ve had 5 turnovers and only one attempted shot.

Holy crap, can't believe Duke won. I was watching that game and Duke was chucking bricks all over, and I turned it off when it was like 51-31

Meaningless what if game, but man if they had those FAU, ND and NW games have the last basket go the other way, there would be a reasonable path to postseason basketball for this team. As is it's a lost season without a BTT win.
