The Big East is so damn strange this season. Nova and Marquette all the sudden can’t win after looking unbeatable at points this season (moreso Marquette). Seton Hall looks left for dead after some bad losses then goes and beats Marquette and Nova and look safe all the sudden. Xavier was freaking terrible all year but now they are in the fringes of the bubble discussion, Butler looked like a pretty good bet to make tourney and now they are almost certainly out without making the BE title game. Georgetown loses to horsefeathering DePaul by 32 points the other day and then today beats Marquette.

I guess you could rationalize it all by saying the conference just isn’t very good as a whole but still. Rollercoaster all season

Well, the Illini have regressed to where they were before that spurt in February maybe, worse. Losing that game in Madison took a lot of wind out their sails, Frazier is probably playing hurt, Nichols continues to be the most ineffective effective appearing player ever. One thing I cannot understand is why Underwood is not playing Jones and Griffin, they've shown flashes of being able to contribute. Perhaps, it a practice thing, Underwood just raves and raves about Nichols' and Williams' practices, guess Jones and Griffin aren't the all world practice players they are.

I thought they finished ok, honestly the slump probably ensured a second year of Ayo which is the biggest thing we need. Frankie needs to talk to Damonte's mom. He can't play at all.

I believe you're correct about Ayo - he's no where near NBA first rounder ready. Williams and Nichols? Unless a miracle occurs where they somehow become basketball players, I don't think Underwood can justify playng them. When they're on the floor it's 5 on 4, cannot win that way. Saw a clip of Underwood after the Iowa game, kept stating the base has been laid for success, it sounded desperate, pleading for the fans to believe and be patient. Guess, we've no choice but, to wait and see if it works out.

All gonna depend on Cockburn and January getting on campus and all the key players staying That happens and I think he succeeds here, it doesn't and I don't think he will.

So my work pool scores 1-2-4-6-8-12 per round with an underdog bonus in the first two rounds where you add the difference in seeds. So if a 10 beats a 7, I get 4 points but 7 over a 10 is worth 1.

Is there a good reason why, after I fill out my bracket, I shouldn’t just pick the underdog in round 1 if I have the better team losing in round 2? So if I have the 4 beating the 5 in the R32, should I just pick the 12 instead since I have the 5 losing anyway? I was pretty much going to pick all 9s and 10s unless I picked a 7 to beat a 2.

Obviously might not work out but I’d only be losing a point on each game with the payoff being much larger. And if a couple hit, I’m in great shape.

No, there isn't a good reason, you should basically pick every 9 through 12 or 13 seed in the first round at the very least. Someone did that underdog scoring online(Facebook?) a while back and it made for some very silly results(brackets with four 16 seeds in the final 4 being high on leaderboards late into the second weekend).

Friend of mine is in one where you pick one team from each region and your score is their seed x the number of games they win. So Duke winning the title is worth half what Liberty winning round 1 is

i'm in one similar but you pick any 8 teams you want. It's fun but I always do terrible in it.

End of the Belmont game, Belmont down 2 with Maryland shooting 1 more FT and 2.5 seconds left, Belmont coach calls his last timeout. Why call it before the FT? If he makes it you can throw the ball up the court regardless but by calling the timeout, you’re screwed if he misses (he did).

Seems like he should have just waited.

Pretty cool that the kid who is 0-257 from 3 is chucking up awful shots in the final minute of this Wofford game

You mean the guy who has made more career 3 pointers than anyone? Yeah, weird.

The guy who was 3-for-37 against elite teams, yes.

He was chucking up shots that would make a tryhard at a YMCA pickup game blush

COLUMBIA, SC—Frantically pacing and weighing the fallout of skipping the game, Duke forward Zion Williamson was panicking Friday after realizing his NCAA tournament game against North Dakota State falls on the same night as his theater club’s production of In The Heights. “Oh man, oh man, I can’t believe this is happening. I don’t wanna miss the game, but that club is my passion, and I made a promise to this cast,” said Williamson, revealing that Duke’s “amazing theater club” was perhaps the deciding factor that drove him to enroll at the university. “I know RJ [barrett] and Tre [Jones] will be upset if I skip out, but that club is like my family—they were the first friends I made on campus. We’ve been rehearsing this for months now; I know all my lines and I just got all my blocking down. And the show will be a total train wreck without me. Cory is my understudy for a reason—there’s absolutely no way he can handle the role of Graffiti Pete.” At press time, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski was telling Williamson to forget about what everyone else wanted and follow his heart.

Watched the last minute of UCF-Duke, trying to be objective, really did not see the fouls on UCF, Williamson, on the way to the hoop, cleared out with his off arm, Tacko did not commit a foul, Williamson jumped into him. Probably, should have been a no-call, good basket and play on. If anything a foul occurred on the FT rebound put back - Barrett had his hand on the UCF player' back for the whole rebounding sequence and pushed off. So, the officials swallowed their whistles at the wrong time.
