The Bears have what...4 draft picks in 2019? Awesome.

Really need to consider seeing what we can get for Howard

Agreed, unfortunately. When is the deadline?

catch a hail mary and only get to the 1/2 yard line, cool

The collective luck of Boston sports and bad luck of the Chicago Bears conspired to make that happen

I feel like Mitch was decidedly below average, yet still probably the best player in a Bears uniform today (or on the sidelines if we're counting coaching), other than probably Bilal Nichols.

I don't know if that's good or bad.

Geez this defense is atrocious. I’m sure some of it is Belichick outsceming fangio but still freaking awful

Weren’t we saying they were the ‘85 Bears like three weeks ago? How did it go south so quickly?

Mack got hurt and this has made him a shell of himself. Suddenly he’s not getting double teamed and we are realizing that guys like Floyd kind of suck

Some perspective. I think everyone is so worried right now because for the first time in a while, the Bears actually are worth worrying about. People are critical of Trubisky, because he's actually worth being critical of. People are critical of the defense, because they are actually worth being critical of. People are upset about the way the team played in a loss because they are capable of playing better. This is much better than the last 3 years with 0 hope, 0 expectations and 0 results.

I don't think most on this board expected much out of this team as recently as 1 week before the regular season started.

Mitch was below average today, and still managed 300+ yards, combined for 3 TDs, and led an offense that had 500 yards and 31 points. He's also at or above most reasonable expectations for him after what was a lost season as a rookie.

The defense is also going to be fine. They wilted under 105 degree heat in the 2nd half in Miami and missed a assload of tackles. And they faced the best QB/coach combo in NFL history and held them to a respectable 24 points, with their best player gimpy.

They SHOULD be able to win the next 2 games against inferior teams with young and/or terrible QBs. I don't think either NYJ or Buffalo are capable of running the type of offense comprised of quick throws and RB mismatches that the Dolphins and Patriots were able to run. Hopefully, Trubisky is able to keep making big plays, and shore up the accuracy a bit over the next couple weeks. But also hope this is a chance for the Bears to ease up on Mack a little, get him healthy as they get big leads the next couple weeks and go with more Lynch/Irving.

The bottom line though, this is about the team everyone expected coming in. We expected a team that would be competitive, but probably just short of the playoffs with about 8-9 wins. That's exactly how they are playing. They've lost 3 games by a combined 11 points, with an OT loss, dropped game-winning INT, and coming 1/2 yard short of tying in regulation.

Trading away firsts to come up short of the playoffs is absolutely unacceptable. 8 wins is a bad season.

Yeah, sorry. I mean, yes, on some level it is nice that they're worth worrying about.

But losing in a year where you burned multiple first-round picks and a year of Trubisky's rookie contract is a really bad thing.

Hmm. A quick browse of your posts to start game threads in Weeks 1-4, I see a lot of you saying, "IF they HOPE to compete", "playoffs BECOME realistic with a win", "3-1 start makes playoffs possible". You knew they traded 1sts before all these games, yet never have you said 8 wins is a bad season.

You never thought this was a playoff team, until they started to play like a playoff team......which was my point. I understand if you play like a playoff team and have a division lead early in the season, expectations can change. But the Bears will be favored to be 5-3 this time 2 weeks from now. Meanwhile, the Vikings play the Saints and Lions....while the Packers play the Rams and Patriots. Based on Vegas odds, there's a decent chance the Bears are playing for 1st place in Week 10 and 11 against the Lions and Vikings, respectively. Losing a game today that you and Vegas expected them to lose changes nothing.

losing picks sucks, but Mack is/was/and will be worth that trade. We're also not out of the playoffs by a long shot. Today sucked, losing to Miami sucked, but the season isn't 1/2 over.

The point is that chalking this loss up as expected and Not that bad since we all thought this team was mediocre in August is not a good way to judge a team that has to win with what they already have. They aren't getting more talent. This is the team they have to win with now. Mack is worth the trade, but you still have to win games and their qb was trash today.

Mack has got to get back to 100% or close to it. Without him, this is a 6-7 win team, even after starting 3-1(3-3 even).

If he's healthy, 5-3 is a distinct possibility. Winning the home division games is a possibility. SF and the Giants are a possibility...... That's 10 and likely a playoff berth. But, that's also without a stump your toe effort at some point, which is extremely likely. Especially with Trubisky being streaky.

But, if he's not healthy the rest of the year, this D isn't good enough to win versus Minnesota or Green Bay and our offense isn't just outscoring them either.

And 6-7 wins, without a lot of room for upgrading in the offseason, will suck.

Agreed nevertheless, very frustrated he missed a TD pass on each int and at least, two more. To look as shitty as he did against a truly awful defense is really annoying.

Can we stop using this as an excuse? The Lions went into Miami and handled them easily.

Yes, he was bad. But his bad was being responsible for 360 yards of offense and 31 points even if you take out the Hail Mary. That's enough to win most weeks. The turnovers can't happen, but the 2 INTs were DBs wrestling the ball away from WRs. That being said, he's lucky there weren't several other picks. Trubisky has had little help from his running game. Not much help from his playcaller. And the last 2 weeks, nothing from his defense. I'm encouraged by the fact he's kept his teams in games that his defense and special teams has given up 69 points. Before Tampa, this wasn't possible.

Hopefully, the team can get it together in all phases at once and start playing some consistent football.

whenever I see Trubisky have a rough game, I think to myself "well at least he isn't Jay Cutler".

It's so weird that you keep pushing this "Trubisky is terrible" agenda, when you were one of the most vocal Cutler supporters on this board. If Trubisky continues along the same terrible plane he's been on this season, he finishes better than Cutler across the board statistically.

It's crazy to me that people blame play calling for the Bears struggles. Time and time again a play is there and mitch misses by yards. And it's the play calling?

yea. When the opposing team's WR is running wild through the Bears secondary I totally blame Mitch
