According to Kaplan, KB turned down 200 Mill Extension

So? Is my first reaction. Can't expect a Boras client to cave this quickly anyway.

Second reaction is trading him coming off his 2018 wouldn't maximize his value anyway.

Third reaction, again, nothing to see here......

Fourth reaction, I am at least curious what kind of godfather package you could pry out of the Braves and Padres....

Fifth reaction, Kap is an idiot of the highest power, as he evidently brought up trading KB for Greinke lol.

So they probably don’t give a horsefeathers about their AAV being more than $40 mil over the tax. If they gave Bryant 10 years at well over $200 then they are increasing his 2019 number by $10 mil or more. You don’t do that if you have to stay within $40 mil of the tax and have other needs.

Boras insists on his client reaching free agency, news at 11

To be fair, Boras does prefer that, but there have been cases where if the player basically asks Boras to make a deal, he does. The most recent example is Strasburg wanting to stay with the Nationals, provided fair terms, which was obviously met.

Anyhow, I don't think this is all that significant. Makes no sense for KB to sign that now anyways.

It makes sense that they offer an extension to KB right now. It'll be harder to sign him once they offer an even larger amount to Harper.

I wonder how much the Nats offered to Harper. Did that ever leak? I know they've tried multiple times to sign him to an extension.

Its also why Boras won't let him sign that. He has to let Harper and Manny dictate Kris's contract not the other way around. Bryant could easily sign a deal in February, but not December.
