You can tell this season isn't going well for the Cubs by how many excuses and complains we have about things like the schedule and the umpires and opposing players having hot streaks.

the Cubs are the only team in baseball history to play a 162 game schedule, or so I've thought with all the complaints about the schedule the last couple of months.

try 163 bitch

The smell of stale champagne in the visitors clubhouse will propel the Rockies to victory

a rockies win would be very inefficient from an alcohol standpoint because they're used to drinking at altitude

My weird gut feeling is we either go down in flames tonight or we somehow win the pennant.

Man, I really should pay more attention to how they change the rules for these WC games, apparently.

I am 100% serious that I would rather just lose this game than have to risk Ryan Braun celebrating at Wrigley Field a second time.

Yeah, I hate saying it, but I don't want this wreck of a team having anything more to do with the Brewers this season.

We’re gonna score at least 6 and Jon is gonna have a run scoring hit as well

kerry wood game 7 minus the part where we lose

Lester 3IP, 4 ER. That's conservative against a team that ops's .800 against LHP.

I tried this yesterday and David and others pointed out that they are actually slightly below average at hitting LHP when you adjust for park effects

ugh

Guccione rates as a prettt extreme pitchers ump. I wonder if like one of Jon’s blow up Pirates starts is in there skewing the numbers

I’m the opposite. We’ve already surrendered our manhood to the Brewers this season. Losing to them again would not make it worse. Beating them would make it so much better.

99 OPS+ against LHP at wrigley field this year. im unsure how many of those plate appearances (50) were in evening games though but basically we're gonna win

horsefeathers David and his pedantry and advanced metrics. I'm sticking by this. And I'm gonna go all Smoltzy on you guys and say the Rockies have more heart.

.898 OPS at home against lefties (977 PAs)

.702 OPS on the road against lefties (1010 PAs)

For a little more positivity, the Cubs are .797 OPS at home against lefties this year (.667 on the road).

I’m a pretty negative person when it comes to the Cubs, but some of you are lunatics.

THEY CAN'T HURT US IF WE HURT US FIRST.

I live my relational life this way I think. And I'm a therapist. :-$

100 percent. If we lose tonight, Milwaukee has this season on us anyway. Might as well take the chance of a 2015 STL revenge scenario.

Celebrating a 4th consecutive NLCS appearance either back at Wrigley or spraying all over the Miller Park clubhouse would be glorious. Losing to them again would not be any worse than losing to them yesterday.

The one that bugs me the most is all the whining about the schedule.

i think there's a legitimate problem however, in the long run, for the cubs having so many early season games canceled because of weather and playing them all at the end of the season.

this also applies to all teams in cold weather areas without domes

Well, yeah; the problem is more the pile up of lingering injuries and guys slumping/under-performing. A normal 2018 Cubs team isn't struggling to put a lineup out there every day that isn't half black holes, making it harder to get guys more time off regardless of whether they lost days off. Having 2-3 more off days at the end likely wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

Yeah, I'm oddly confident that if we win tonight we'll be in decent to good shape against the VBs. Pretty much house money at that point.
