Holy horsefeathers Joe, you don't always "need to have your players backs" or whatever he thinks he's doing. How can he be so obtuse to not, at the bare minimum, go with some PR 101 line that Theo or Ricketts almost surely gave him along the lines of "it's a serious allegation and the truth needs to be found and we stand by MLB's decision to take this over and look in to it" or whatever some of their quotes were Friday that again are the bare minimum but at least not completely showing your ass.

i think joe is just terrified of taking a position on anything publicly

doesn't excuse anything. i don't like what he said the other day or him basically doubling down on it today. i just think he's an old dumbass when it comes to these matters, no matter how progressive his baseball ideas or his goofy shticks and wacky hair might make him seem.

I agree with most of this but there's a big gap between taking a position on something and saying what he said, he's just being willingly ignorant and obtuse. Like I mentioned above the bare minimum and easiest thing to do is at least go with a canned PR 101 statement that he has to of been given/talked about with by someone above him.

Yeah, horsefeathers this guy. I stand by what I said in a game thread the other day (the fact r_mack threw shade at me for it just cements my sense that I am in the right).

he defended the white house publicly

sort of...but that was another instance of sort of refusing to take a stance on anything. he just hid behind something like "i may not agree with everything going on there but i believe you still have to respect the office" or some crap like that.

.

He's come out publicly with a strong opinion about Binnys.

That's an opinion I share, tho

That statement should be grounds for immediate dismissal. Theo has to be pissed.

I didn’t think progressive hippy guy on the field would be so [expletive] stupid when it comes to opinions on worldly issues.

He’s not a progressive hippy he’s a bat- horsefeathers crazy libertarian free market capitalist.

Leave free market capitalism out of this, please.

During the game, they showed the offensive statistics comparing the pitcher batting eighth vs. batting ninth. The results were significantly better with the pitcher hitting ninth. So Maddon needs to prove those statistics wrong instead of doing what everybody else does.
