Schwarber not going with team to Arizona

Wait what?

Sounds like the wanted to play it safe. Face two lefties, so he’d only get 1 start and with two longer plane rides it’s probably not worth the risk of something being reaggravated and he gets an extra day off with the off day Thursday.

That what im thinking too..

Gives him 4 extra days and then final 10 they dont leave Chicago

Back problems suck.

Chronic back problems suck even more!

I think there was another thread devoted to this, but what makes chronic back problems even worse is how some dumb yet normal movement or turn or bend or twist can completely throw your back out for days to weeks at a time.

With the caveat that I'd prefer STL as far from the playoffs as possible, our best realistic scenario now, I figure, probably involves STL and LA tying for the second wild card and the winner of that tiebreaker beating Milwaukee.

You'd want St. Louis to beat Milwaukee? Does it have to do with them having to play Monday, Tuesday and then Thursday (against us) in that scenario?

I'd rather not have to deal with Milwaukee's offense or bullpen anymore.

Yes. I'm speaking solely from a pragmatic perspective here. In reality I want St. Louis to lose every remaining game they play for the rest of the franchise's soul-sucking history, but I know that's not going to happen.

I want LA to win the west, Colorado to beat Milwaukee in the coin flip. Cubs beat Colorado, Atlanta beats LA, then we beat Atlanta and then take our chances on who makes it thru the AL

Heard on the Baseball Tonight podcast that the Cubs are tied with the Marlins and Giants for second most games scoring 0 or 1 runs this year.

Need this death stretch of games to be over. Heyward and Schwarber will be plenty rested and I think Joe has done a pretty good job of getting people rest during it. Anyone would be dragging by now, though.

Not much of a day off as they will probably get back from AZ around 6am Thursday and they play a day game Friday at the White Sox

great, just when Willy looked to break out of a slump his hot-rodding will get him benched

I doubt Joe benches him for this, he’ll get a good talking. Willy should be in there vs the two lefties at the least in Arizona.

Funny, only too 14 games left into the season for Maddon to act like a manager and call out a player..

He feeling a little pressure from upper management???????

I think this guy might be rchap reborn

If the game ends at midnight local time they will have a whole like 36 hours off not including travel time. Blah, we really need to win the division and give our guys 3 days off before the playoffs.
