Left after one inning with the trainer. He’s done (my hypothesis). BN twitter feed is lit with idiot hot takes.

Yeah. Really can’t see a scenario where they don’t shut him down and start over, unless he by some miracle just has cramps. If they shut him down for any length of time I don’t know if it’s possible for him to come back and able to he counted on in October

Man this offseason was just ...

it's crazy, out of all the FA signings made by this front office, what percentage of them would they leap at the chance to reverse?

Is it because they can’t diagnose the issue that he just needs a prolonged amount of rest (like until spring training)?

Or, is surgery an option and he and they are doing everything possible to avoid it?

Chatwood - definitely

Darvish - probably just because so much of the perceived value is tied to the first couple seasons

Morrow - eh, maybe. It’s not too unexpected though and he’s excellent when out there

Cishek - sign 5 of him

I want Arrieta instead of this broken Yu.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

WERE WE EVER SO YOUNG?

Didn't Theo have a not so great track record with FA in Boston, too?

Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez' bank accounts thought Theo was great in FA in Boston.

Don't forget Duensing.

ETA: Can't imagine it's only a probably on Darvish. They'd love a $126 million do-over on that one. Most of us would.

heyward/darvish/chatwood is what, $300 million wasted? What a world.

It actually makes me wonder if they have the stomach to even sign a Harper this offseason.

Even if he would have had TJS two months ago he would not have helped much next year. So he'll be penciled in for 2020 and that's that. Not his first rodeo, but pretty fast turnaround for number two.

I imagine what happens is theo pulls a boston and goes all in to sign Harper. if it works out he absolves himself from the horrid heyward, darvish, chatwood deals. If it fails he just leaves.

To be fair, as bad as those signings (and the quintana trade) have been, you really can't blame them. Heyward was a 5-war 26 year old, quintana was a 4-war guy on a cheaper than arb deal, and darvish was good value (as long as he didn't die. oops.) Even Chatwood was someone who you would never have predicted him to be worse after leaving colorado.

Yeah the process and theory on all those moves were fine and sound. The results have just been awful.

At some point the payroll starts to add up.

Sure but more important is the money hasn’t run out.

Boohoo the team’s breaking a sweat to the best record in the NL with these three burdens

Spoken like a man whose money isn't actually being spent.

I hope we get Harper, but man, that has to make them think twice when busting out a $350-$400 contract. They have no choice but for it to go right without starting to seriously hurt, unless they are just going to spend like the Dodgers and then none of it matters.
