I need 2 of the 3 listed starters to have good games tonight to make up for the severe lack of interesting bats playing in full season ball.

Yeah. It was fun seeing the Gonzalez article a few days ago, with McLeod kind of hinting that hitting could be addressed early in the draft this year.

Tennessee RHSP Adbert Alzolay pitched in Extended Spring Training intrasquad game this morning (Monday 4/9) on Field #6 at the Riverview Baseball Complex: 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K, 2/1 GO/AO, 59 pitches (37 strikes)

Lange's done after 5, 2 runs, 1 earned. Abbott's done after 5, 5K/1BB but 7 hits and 4 runs. But Abbott is in position to win his first pro decision.

Ademan’s body looks similar to Russell’s and so does his stance

he's gonna be so good once he hits puberty

Has Lange started the process of changing his delivery yet? Consensus seemed to be that it needed to become less violent for him to remain a starter long term.

Hot take: those takes are noise and nonsense for the most part. There's plenty of SPs with untrustworthy deliveries.

Agree, as long as whatever a guy is doing doesn’t make him more susceptible to injury (largely seems like that’s still all guess work) or what he’s doing isn’t repeatable and can lead to command/control problems it’s all just mostly noise and nonsense to me.

Oh and re: severely lacking full season bats....I'm into getting more bats, with five picks before the 98th in the draft there is no reason not to, but the current group of prospect bats that weren't drafted in the top 3, 5, or 10 overall is probably the best they've had. It's going to be had to find a position player prospect that can match Ademan's pace even among the college bats without lots of luck. I like Short and Bote's ML role player potential too, especially relative to what's been hyped (among picks outside the top 10) in recent years like Zagunis or Chesny Young.

Yeah I want some bats this year, unless there’s an arm or two they just love I want mostly bats with those 5 picks.

I would like to see more Ks from Lange, given that he is a college pitcher with an advanced secondary. But not bad for a first start. 0 walks was nice.

*Addison Russell starts doing the math in his head*

If they spend all five top-100 picks on pitchers, I wouldn't mind a bit, myself. Maybe without being a great thinker on this; but I'd rather see picks 2-5 go to pitchers.

First round pick, if there is an excellent hitting prospect there, terrific.

But by pick 63, don't think the chances are very good to get a guy who can both hit and field and hit with power. Foreseeing which pitcher is going to work out is harder than with players, so I think your chance of getting lucky on pitchers in round 2 and 3 is better than with hitters.

I also feel like pitchers are better trade fodder.

Just like the chances aren't very good at getting a guy who can stick as a starter and has 3 plus pitches with both control and command. The odds of getting an impact player of any kind outside of the 1st round are just not high at all. I would prefer at least 3 hitters in the first 5 picks this summer, but it obviously can't be forced.
