Everyone on the Reds besides Elly and Hunter Greene was really good in one of 2023 or 2024 and really bad (or hurt) in the other.

So it's not hard to see them getting a good dice roll and being quite good, the talent is clearly there, but the most likely scenario is them being a really top heavy 78 win team yet again.

If Matt McClain stays healthy this year, I think he is gonna be scary this season for the Reds. Good player. I can see a world where the Reds are competitive.

Jared Jones apparently is going to miss a few months with an elbow issue

That team is real bad on any day Paul Skenes isn't pitching.  Annoying that they're likely going to line things up for us to see him every series.

I'm just going to go ahead and change my fantasy team name to the infirmary. Francisco Alvarez, Gayson Rodriguez, Alexis Díaz, Luis Gil, Ronald Acuña Jr., Jared Jones...

Reds bullpen gave up 4 in the 9th to blow a strong Hunter Greene start

It will not be the first time we write that I suspect

Playing the Yankees in New York is a really tough draw.  So even beyond the SSS aspect I don't want to bite too hard on this.

That said, the argument for the Brewers winning the division was more or less "they'll get a 60-70th percentile outcome for their pitching staff because they always do."  Between their performance so far and the injuries it is getting tougher to just continue putting that blind faith in them.

After 4 games the Brewers *team ERA* is 12.81

Pretty close to the average Wisconsin IQ...

Flexor Strains generally require a recovery measured in months, not weeks.

Brewers rotation is Peralta and pray for rain now

Reds scored 14 runs on Mar 31 and 11 runs on Apr 5. In their other 10 games they've scored 17 runs total. They lost 3 straight 1-0 games last week and then beat SF 1-0 today. So that's four 1-0 games out of 12 played.

Are the Pirates even going to attempt to put some sort of team around Skenes during the next 4 seasons before he hits free agency?

We’re only about 12 months until the “the Pirates should start shopping Skenes” articles start popping up.

Through free agency? No.

BP wrote a pretty scathing article on the Pirates today. They sucked me in with some Canario stuff, but it was basically "The Pirates are going to Pirate, and it's likely they never do anything to put a real team around Skenes". Well written stuff.

Its a shame too. That ownership group is absolute trash. Pittsburgh deserves a good team again. That ball park is gorgeous.

It's pretty wild that they're still this bad.  Like if Paul Skenes isn't pitching on a given day they're not any better than the White Sox/Rockies/Marlins.  And their farm is good but not great.

Derek Shelton has been relieved of his duties with the Pirates.  That franchise is such a shitshow. I feel bad for him.
