I have an unhealthy affinity for the Reds. Votto is, of course, an amazing player. Gennett, Suarez, Duvall and Schebler, if nothing else, at least knock the ball around that tiny little ballpark of theirs to keep things interesting. Raisel Iglesias throws 100 mph out of the pen.

The question for them is if they can get any health at all from DeSciafani and Finnegan.

If they can get full seasons from their decent young pitchers and have a serviceable starting staff, they'll be a fun team to watch... you know, for a 70-ish win team.

I keep thinking the Reds should have a better staff going into every year and every horsefeathering year they give up like 450 bombs to their opposition.

Bill Hall was a long-time personal favorite for pimping every deep flyball he hit just in case it was a HR

do I need to re-tell the story of my daughter heckling Bill Hall at a AAA game?

Yes. Wasn't it 'your name is half L's' or something like that?

yep. made him laugh pretty hard hearing that from an 8 year old girl

Haha, his logic is so terrible it has me literally chuckling to myself.

"Sure the Brewers are only projected for 73 wins, but if 15 things break perfectly right, they could win 86 again and be right in the wild card race! Meanwhile if the Cubs don't see a major bounceback this year from several players, why, they might be doomed to repeat last year's performance of only 92 wins. WHAT THEN, CUBS FANS?!"

To be perfectly honest they don't seem very delusional as a whole to me.

They're seeing things through brewer-tainted glasses just like we are with the cubs. Most of that chunk there was pretty reasonable and thought out. Even the parts where they were discussing their hopes to catch the Cubs were presented more as outside chances (which is accurate) than declarative expectations.

The Brewers currently project to finish 17 games behind the Cubs (it probably gets a win or two better with more realistic playing time estimates). That's not Cubs-tainted glasses. That's an unbiased (Steamer, in this case, I think?) projection system. They are not talking about either team like fans of a team projected to be 17 games worse than the Cubs.

People think they are adding to an 86 win team, but they're really not.

I completely forgot that I couldn't even hate follow Jesse Rogers anymore because he's just so stupid.

Then he pulls off this tweet that somehow shows up in my timeline and it all comes rushing back.

Let's just hope they don't find out about the power of Mad Men gifs.
