Leave the poor guy alone. He doesn't want the ball. We should honor his wish.

If this is true, that team is soft as hell.

crap. i don't like this getting play. he's going to be shamed into pitching.

i'd prefer it was their dumb manager's decision so that it would stay that way.

Tomorrow very well may be the last game Dusty ever manages.

For The Nationals, maybe.

Then some other idiot GM will sign him to a four year deal and we will see all this for a fifth team

nah

putting him out to pasture would feel almost as good as wootton and favre

This is the most bizarre horsefeathers only the Nats and Dusty could dream up. Something is amiss with this whole thing

They’re already saying he is unavailable tomorrow. Gio and Scherzer may get an inning, but Strasburg is out.

there's nothing binding about that

First off it's baseball, so softness is on a sliding scale.

Second, pitchers knowing when they aren't good to go and acknowledging it, is a good thing. They need to win 2 games and if he feels he'll be better in game 5 that's not bad calculus.

Three, I don't completely disagree with you.

It'd be fun(not against us) for a team to stack their lineup for a righty, then a lefty comes in after a single batter, to face them.

As for this exact scenario that's going on, my guess is Dusty is desperate, and is going to do whatever he possibly can, to win. I'm not sold that Strasburg isn't pitching tomorrow. They're both righties, at least. But, I'd be prepared for Strasburg to feel much better tomorrow. Especially since his side session was yesterday. The whole sick crap seems like gamesmanship to me.

but why wouldn't they come up with a legit made up injury instead of this bizarre nonsense if that was their aim?

I dont get why dusty would hide strasburg. At some point, he has to put out his roster. Is that time the same moment for both clubs? And how different would the line up be between Roark and strasburg?

They’re both righties so baring some astronomical advantage one of our guys has over strasburg, why the element of surprise? Just to be dusty?

To me, him being "under the weather" is the only way this really even works. If he tweaked something? I mean, I guess. But, he's got a cold. This seems like the easiest way possible for them to pull this off, in my mind.

I think Dusty is desperate. If he thinks this helps his odds, I think he'd do it. Even if this is an unwritten rule about to be broken.(no idea if it is or not and no idea if its been done in the playoffs ever)

By the way......The thing that has me thinking like this is they made sure to correct the original report that he threw his side session today and changed it to yesterday.

i just read that story and it makes no sense

ran a half mile and was wheezing so he's passing? what?

You’ve obviously never had bad A/C before. The worst!

They’re called thermostats you Nat morons. I mean what in the actual horsefeathers type of excuse is this Dusty??? Dusty continually baffles me. Touché Baker. Touche

it is utterly stunning how Dusty falls into these primo gigs. Giants > Cubs >Reds > Nats
