.258/.338/.561 since being called back up.

.286/.412/.786 since this post. FlyTheW is the anti-Duke. Looks like we'll have to recruit someone else for the club, Sofa.

I don't really care about his platoon-protected numbers. He hasn't been good at all.

the more i hear from you, the more i hate you

Seriously. Only one-fourth of MLB pitchers are left-handed these days. Even if he's a platoon player in the near term, its by far the strong side of the platoon. His other weakness is addressed when a LOOGY comes in to face him, its usually about the time you're wanting to replace him for defense anyway.

He's not what we thought he was (right now) but he's far from worthless.

He's struck out north of 40 percent of the time since he came back up. I mean overall he's been pretty solid but I don't think he's gonna carry an 880 OPS for too long with a K rate like that.

yeah well i dont think he's going to carry a K rate above 40% for too long with an OPS like that

Good news then! He hasn't been rocking an OPS like that for a couple weeks now.

I feel like he gets out-of-sorts after he pulls a massive dong.

He pulled a long HR against the Cards on 7/23. Before that HR, since his recall, he had a 30% K rate and 70% contact.

After that HR those numbers have exploded to 47% and 58%.

Extremely small samples, granted.

His message from the Cubs braintrust was pretty simple: quick to the pitch, stay through it, and stay up the middle or to the left.

He's really not doing any of those things lately.

reminder -

since his return from AAA, schwarber is slashing .247/.350/.551 (not including the 1 for 1 tonight)

he's got a .377 wOBA and a 132 wRC+

oh and a .303 (!!!) iso

37.9% K and 11% BB

we all want to see the K's go down and the contact go up, but those are, aside from the strikeout rate, better than his career numbers coming into this season

imagine if they send him down again how good he'll be

He was sent down to the Arizona Fall League and came back to be a WS hero, so clearly, the farther he's sent down, the better he is when he comes back.

That's just science.

They better hurry up. The Dominican Summer League ends on the 26th.

why haven't we locked him in a room with that pitching machine again

that thing got him more ready to face kluber than anyone else on the team

well that's one hell of a weird way to look at a .900 OPS

It's like admiring a really nice car that runs you over.

i can't really make complete sense of the analogy but i laughed

Probably should have kept Soler. Dude has a .961 OPS this year. Wait, that's in AAA. His MLB OPS is .520 and in just 102 PAs in 29 games, he's been worth -1.4 WAR.

Now at .278/.381/.588 in 113 plate appearances.

Weird, guess who is currently 4th on the team in PA, and about to pass up Willson...

Never would have guessed that after the demotion and sitting against lefties, but after you think about who else it could be, it makes sense.

I probably would've guessed Baez. although he gets somewhat shielded against righties and shared time with three other middle infielders, so I guess that makes sense.
