TBH, didn't read that article but I think everyone expected this because he won't even miss a start with the ASB coming up. Gives them an extra guy for 4 days.

So the Cubs are finally gaming the 10-day DL like the Dodgers.

People were starting to ask too many questions about the disappearance of family members of several Cubs

Happ wasn't called up so much as he went on the lam.

all schwarber did in AAA was walk, dong and K. they should send him more downer until he learns to be a hitter

We may have to accept that he's Adam Dunn 2.0

I believe that they are sending Schwarber down now and if he rakes they will keep him down there until the trade deadline. They then will flip him for a cost controlled SP. He may have played his last game in a Cubs uniform.

Almost had it.

Schwarber had a .333 average in Iowa.

Just slightly lower than his K%.

According to milb.com his K% and average were both .343.

That's what I get for looking at Fangraphs for MiLB numbers. His average was .343, K% uses PA as a denominator though, so his K% was 27%

I don't think the numbers really matter at all while he was in Iowa. From what I've read he was using the whole field more and his approach was solid so I think it was a successful stint.

if his batting average was driven by singles, that would be good. But it was driven by dongs, which shows he's not a hitter!

Yeah I love Schwarber, but I'd pull the trigger on that in a heartbeat. It'd have to be more than Schwarber though right?

Fulmer has 43 starts at the MLB level(275 IP) and has been worth 6.1 fWAR, and his ERAs are better than the FIPs that power fWAR. The only thing he appears to be really, really good at is HR prevention so I get the skepticism, but even if you don't buy his 2017 that's still *5.5 years* of a guy who seems a pretty good bet to be a 3+ win pitcher.

Two of the five biggest comps through age 23 for Fulmer:

Rick Reuschel

Mike Harkey

One of those would be an awesome outcome.

I would be willing to trade in our large adult son for a reincarnation of the round mound

I remember sneaky trying to convince me that Travis Wood was really, really good at HR prevention. I'm still skeptical that it is a long-term skill instead of simple variance.
