so what's the deal with this? yesterday wikipedia said he was a member of the cubs and today it's back to free agent. is it because I didn't give Jimmy Wales $3?

he better be on the team, I'm excited to have somebody older than me on the roster.

I think that ship has sailed for me unless they bring in Bartolo

Is Jamie Moyer still pitching somewhere?

Trying to devour David Ross' soul

the Cardinals radio call of the pickoff is my 2nd favorite moment in baseball history.

wow that's good

Shannon is absolutely terrible. The only announcer I've ever heard who is worse is Harrelson.

And man, that's some beard on Rossy... Wow.

One of the best things about the 2015 playoffs was Mike Shannon struggling to pronounce Cubs players' names as they dong his team to death. (IIRC he had a "Schwaba" and a "Solar" call)

This deal seems fine to me and I overall approve of the Cubs strategy regarding relief pitchers. Its not as Hot Stove Satisfying as last years moves, but it all makes sense.

was this ever made official?

Not yet. I think he's in Japan currently and needs to take a physical once he gets back.

gotcha. Thank you. I'd googled around and could only find the rumor. I was wondering what happened.

Rogers also tweeted he took less to sign with us and had bigger offers on the table

it's truly amazing how every free agent that has ever signed a contract turned down higher offers to go to the team he wanted most

Him laughing at the Red Sox holding the runner on as Wong literally get picked off was so wonderful.

I don't think we really talked about this, but for those who aren't familiar with Uehara, he throws 2 pitches(like most relievers), a fastball and a splitter. What's unique about him is that last year his average fastball was under 87 mph. That's not new, he's never averaged 90 mph for a season on his fastball, and this also explains why he has little platoon split. He's going to throw straight in the upper 80s, or upper 70s and the bottom is going to fall out of it, and hitters can't tell which until it's too late.
