I like it. The problem is though that the ballot is becoming so full of qualified guys that people (the internet) is going to have a problem with almost every ballot cast since there's going to be like 50 different permutations of ballots that aren't necessarily right or wrong.

Eh, good writers should be able to formulate their arguments against certain guys like Jeff Kent or whomever they get called out on. What this does is put those 16 idiots who didn't vote for Maddux in an impossible spot now that they actually have to defend that crappy non-vote.

Oh, the good is going to far out-weigh the bad by weeding out the true idiots. I'm just saying since they've done such a bad job in the past voting guys in that even "good ballots" are going to come under scrutiny for leaving a guy(s) off because there are just too many options. It's absolutely a great move to make them public, just pointing out what I think is going to happen.

I pretty much stopped caring about the hall of fame when they decided sluggers from the steroid era weren't getting in. What's the point of a hall of fame where hall of famers aren't in?

*shrug*

You can't publicly shame people who have no shame to begin with

Yeah this has to be one of the worst ballots cast.

It's not that bad if you're willing to take anyone connected with steroids off the list.

I'm not, though. So I consider his ballot to be horrendous. Any submission that doesn't include Bonds should be thrown out.

And even excluding steroids...Mike Mussina? Seriously?

3rd highest bWAR of anyone on the ballot.

Or by fWAR, he had a nine year stretch from 95-03 where he put up over 50 fWAR. Remarkably good, durable and consistent.

Bagwell

Bonds

Clemens

Martinez

Mussina

Raines

Ramirez

Rodriguez

Schilling

Walker

This is the only acceptable ballot. Sheffield, Guerrero, and Sosa are all a step behind Walker. And voting for closers is dumb, especially when there's a logjam of deserving candidates and a stupid 10 person per ballot limit.

He has a career war of 82 (bWAR 82.7, fWAR 82.2). He's more than deserving, that's more WAR than 52 pitchers in the HOF already. His 82 career WAR puts him in the range of the likes of Bob Gibson (81.9), Fergie Jenkins (82.8), Nolan Ryan (83.9) and Steve Carlton (84.1). He belongs.

Schilling just tweeted back at me to say that he doesn't "need" the writers' votes. I just said it was stupid for him to RT the lynching journalists t-shirt pic. Fun.

For some reason I think it's hilarious that the official HoF ballot is a xerox of something that was thrown together in 3 minutes in Word. I don't know why I would think it would be any more complicated than that, but it doesn't look terribly official

They threw it together in WordPerfect.
