The Dodgers have signed outfielder Paulo Orlando to a minor league deal, MetsMerized’s Michael Mayer reports (Twitter link). Orlando will receive an invitation to the Dodgers’ big league Spring Training camp, the Southern California News Group’s J.P. Hoornstra adds (via Twitter).

Dodgers clearly moved on to backup plans because Bryce isn't going there.

That's a good line for the Nationals.

I should gamble more often.

They were all the way down to the +1800 to +2500 range around the winter meetings/before it came out he had that long meeting with ownership

I'd put money on the Cubs right now even if I am not overly confident, I do think they are being undervalued here.

there is no universe, not any parallel dimension, where the White Sox are a more likely destination than the Cubs

no, i've also decided that bryce is going to settle in as a 4 win outfielder who gets hurt a lot, and we won't care about him for long

I was just reminded that Harper’s full name is Bryce Aron Max Harper. I have decided I prefer an outfield of Schwarber, Happ/Almora, Heyward.

The Bryce Harper carousel will keep spinning.

The coveted free-agent outfielder had a meeting with Phillies front office officials in his hometown of Las Vegas on Saturday, but left without signing a contract.

Harper and his representative, Scott Boras, met with Phillies owner John Middleton, general manager Matt Klentak and manager Gabe Kapler for several hours. Klentak had previously met with Boras during the winter meetings in Las Vegas last month to discuss a potential move, but Harper was not in attendance.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, which cited an unidentified source, the team remains confident they will "end the offseason with either Harper or [Manny] Machado on their roster."

I’m increasingly annoyed by how much ownership is now in the room when negotiating deals. I get them having final approval over larger moves, but let the GM’s do their horsefeathering job
