apparently, boweden said on mlbn radio that the white sox are front runners for harper...then they discussed it on transition on the score and holmes basically said "yeah...the whole thing is weird. ill believe it when i see it." then later said something along the lines of "i still feel like theo is going to dig in those couch cushions and find $400M for harper" and then they proceeded to talk about how ridiculous the financial restrictions story is

Kyle, did you try to make it seem like you were sulley? Did you make up a fake email address?

I made it anonymous and wasn’t trying to pin it on anyone. Iirc, it was something that made me sound like a concerned newspaper reader of Oklahoma. I was surprised he blamed it on someone else, he seemed so sure.

was it just a coincidence that it came the same day i was fighting with that socialist bastard in the game of thrones tv thread because he kept trying to low-key post spoilers? that's why i assumed it was him.

This is the best story ever.

I figured he just dump the spoilers in the subject line, but he went all out and made it sound legit so you opened it?

I’m starting to think he’s really going to be on the team next year. Or at least serve his suspension with us and then maybe gets moved when it comes up, like Osuna. Gross.

I still want to believe we can convince someone like the Mets to trade for him. Maybe put a garbage package of him and Chatwood together to the Royals or Padres for peanuts. My latest dream is some weird version of Russell, Chatwood and a prospect like Steele to the Jays for Russell Martin and the burning wreckage of Marcus Stroman.

I’m starting to think Boras is talking highly of a client of his because.

I dont see how Harper inst a Dodger in April

Can't imagine their fnancial situation is much more accommodating than the Cubs.

Yeah, I don’t get this.

i think it probably has to do with their presumably having more tradeable money than we do. Like we would have to work pretty hard to move enough money (heyward, chatwood etc) while they can surely find a taker for Puig without much trouble.

They are also currently 9 million under cap and we are over by 14 million.

Puig is the only guy who's making money that's all that easy for them to move, so he'd be like Zobrist for us in the likely not being hard to move category but ideally want to keep. Kemp has to be close to Chatwood in how hard he would be to move, he has only one year left but makes $21.5 million with a $20 million LT hit. The rest of the guys making money they can't or won't really move (Kershaw, Turner, Hill, Jansen, Ryu).

Which doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things because if they don't move another $20+ million this will be their 3rd consecutive year over and the penalties start getting really ridiculous.

EDIT: And they just blew most of that on Joe Kelly.

The Dodgers were under the tax line last year. Only Boston and Washington spent above the CBT.

This has to change in the next CBA, right? This system encourages high spending teams to spend less every other year.
