us complains about lineup/roster decisions by the smartest organization in baseball a lot

I was wrong about Schwarber struggling against Kluber, and I'll be happy to be wrong about Soler, but what about his last 2.5 months of baseball makes you confident he's going to not go 0-3 with a K and struggle in the OF?

He's worked some really good counts during the playoffs and taken some walks and he only needs to make marginal contact in this wind to get one out tonight. He's mostly fine in the OF and is only going to play ~6 innings anyways. Plus Tomlins splits+this wind are great big flashing lights screaming to get him in this lineup.

I just love that the Indians are tossing Santana into a windy LF in a lame hope to get some offense against the Greek god of pitching.

I hope all of Kipnis' friends that are lifelong Cubs fans that he says are rooting for the Indians are at this game in head to toe Cubs gear.

Well, he probably won't get 3 ABs.

But the options are basically Soler, Heyward, and Almora. Starting Soler gives you the best chance, as remote as it might be, for extra dongage. And it gives you the most defensive flexibility later. If the Cubs are behind, Soler stays in and you pray he gets a hold of one. If the Cubs take the lead, he's likely benched by the 5th and Heyward comes in to play great defense (and maybe the pitcher moves to Soler's spot).

Starting Almora in a game with the wind blowing out and a HR prone pitcher is just stupid.

Maybe he will. It's baseball...and that happens. But you've been down about just about every decision the Cubs have made here recently. Maybe it's time to trust that they know what they're doing.

I felt like Schwarber would struggle against Kluber, and thought starting Coghlan was pointless. Soler hasn't done anything of note since before September.

I get that I went against the popular sentiment on the first one, but the other two aren't particularly thin limbs to climb out on.

So my flooring was supposed to be installed, but the sub-floor is growing mold, cracking, and way off level. I have 3 dehumidifiers running, and no place to sleep in my house but the living room with 2 kids and a dog. The install is delayed until the 10th and 11th of November so that means my house will look like horsefeathers for 2 more weeks. On top of that, I now have to pay an extra $400 to have the sub-floors leveled. And now my boss needs me to work from home for the next couple of hours. So screw that crap...

The Cubbies are playing in a World Series game at Wrigley frickin field tonight! I couldn't care less about anything else right now. The next 4 hours cannot come fast enough!

Santana in LF after only playing 4 innings in the outfield his professional career is really gonna be a treat

There's a good chance it'll be hilarious, but Francona is smart to put him out there. The benefit of his bat outweighs the likelihood that this is a close game decided by the quality of the Indians LF.

Watching the great 'post-Stubhub' ticket price drop with great interest....

What do you mean by this?

Stubhub stops selling tickets 6 hours before gametime, which causes a bunch of unsold tickets to flood into the market, and people usually panic and the prices start dropping.

There are a lot of scams on craigslist but saw quite a few geniunine looking posts selling tickets for well under 1k each, some in the 500-600 range for actual seats.

Who would you play over Soler tonight and why? Especially knowing what we know about Tomlins splits and the wind?

Joe needs to stop trying to make Jorge Soler happen, because it's not going to happen.

Has happened, is happening, will happen.

I'm hoping the same thing happens tomorrow. If I can get a physical seat for ~$1,500 or so I'm heading down. Right now though that's not out there.

someone needs to put one on the LF video board

If so, would it be too much to hope for that they take it down and NOT replace it? To me, it just doesn't look right at Wrigley. Too yuppie or something.

It's going to pay for Bryant's contract in six years. I say we keep it.

Is the Stubhub policy of stopping sales 6 hours before a game a new thing. I know in the past they sold until 30 minutes after a game starts

Bryant just went yard AGAIN

I know a lot of the old records are incomplete, but in my quick scan of the logs, this is both the earliest and biggest pre-first pitch scoring rally in World Series history.

Assuming this is a sincere question, I would put Heyward out there because I think we have enough offense on hand to win the game, especially against Tomlin, and I'd be more concerned with making sure we had a sure handed OF out there with the wind being a factor on fly balls.

I actually think it depends on the individual team

It does. It's a Cubs rule.
