People are getting wayyyy too bent out of shape over a game.

Yes, it sucks. It would be ideal if we could stomp over everyone like the Indians are. But there's no reason things are going badly right now. horsefeathers just happens and if you try to rationalize it or attribute it to curses or the hands of an angry god, you're going to make yourself very, very miserable.

I fear you have given up on the season. You are starting to rationalize it by telling yourself that it's just a game and that even if the Cubs win it all.........how exactly does anything change? You are starting to think about how weird it is that people get wrapped up so emotionally over something that is just entertainment, and how you'd never walk out of a movie feeling so upset or sad except for the time you saw Marley and Me because you couldn't handle seeing the dog die.

Or, maybe, this is how I've been feeling since the playoffs started because I'm a ninnie who thinks about and analyzes the meaning of life too much.

It's less giving up and more not making myself miserable by investing in a team that's pretty bad right now. One that I have no control over. And constantly hoping and hoping and hoping on every pitch, every swing that good things will happen is utterly draining to me.

The $300m payroll team made up 8 games against a team that was like 20 games under .500 in the 2nd half. What a magical story, shut up Smoltz.

Without the best pitcher in baseball for about 2 months

Makes sense. Plus you were so emotionally overboard at times during games in June that it's possible you're just emotionally spent and have nothing left to give. But I ain't Dr. Phil so I probably don't know crap.

Great to see a slumping Seager figure it out while Rizzo looks like me at bat.

Rizzo is at least working counts. Russell is probably tired. What ever the horsefeathers happened to Heward needs to be figure out before it ruins him.

This game has been bad enough watching it on mute. I can't even imagine what you're having to go through.

Two of them started by pitchers we absolutely cannot touch. And that is best case scenario.

Rich Hill may be going through his magical R.A. Dickey phase, but I'm not about to put him in the same boat as Clayton Kershaw.

I'm starting to feel like it's not about the pitching but just our entire lineup for the most part being in a horrible slump or for some other reason just sucking. I mean, we got dominated by Matt Moore, too, just as much as the really good pitchers. Pretty much every starter has been good against us, and we couldn't even bash Shark that much despite a good start to that game.

Didn't shark only pitch like 2 innings? Lol. He got creamed. As did Maeda. The other games were started by Cueto, Bumgarner, Moore, Kershaw and Hill.

Being tired isn't a great excuse for the team that had several weeks of meaningless games to rest players.

and Hendricks and Arrieta and Lackey keep getting smoked.

The Cubs didn't take advantage of Maeda nearly as much as they should have.

Hendricks just gave up 1 run and Lackey has only pitched 1 game

Pretty much. But IMHO, what it comes down to is Rizzo. You can't have a cog that's been that important all season long just shut down and expect the machine to run smoothly, if at all. I mean Heyward's been useless all year, Zobrist hasn't been much bwtter since the ASB, and Russell and Fowler have been streaky, though when they're on, they're ON. Bryzzo is the heart and soul of this team, and the zzo part is broken.

When did Hendricks get smoked?
