let's not go acting like im rondon fan here. Im confident when the team inspires confidence. Saying "id bet money they dont come back to chicago" isnt the same as saying "i dont think they'll come back to chicago." When you go to vegas do you only bet games you think you'll win?

You said if you were given +200 on the Dodgers winning all three games in LA means you think it's a 1 in 3 chance of happening. That's about a 70% chance of winning each game, which is ridiculous.

*Edited because I was thinking of the original even odds assumption*

I just got home from the game and am curious what the strike zone looked like tonight. From my seats, I can't judge inside/outside, so I don't know whether either pitcher was getting the corners more than the other. It felt like maybe the Cubs pitchers were getting squeezed a bit, but I don't know what the reality was.

Was about the same for both teams. The strike 1 call on Bryant in the 9th was the only outrageous call.

http://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/125257/inside-the-at-bat-adrian-gonzalez-hits-a-game-winning-home-run

It was the lowest pitch that Gonzalez has hit for a home run all season and also the closest to the opposite field that he has hit a home run on a fastball or cutter all season.

Hendricks gave up only two home runs with his cutter all season, the last coming on June 24 against Justin Bour of the Marlins. The home run he gave up Sunday snapped a streak of 17 straight appearances (16 starts) without allowing one.

Kershaw's definitely coming back in Game 5, right? Only threw 84 pitches tonight.

I kind of hope he does. I'll gladly take a reduced Kershaw on short rest over a dominant Kershaw on full rest. The only thing the Dodgers gain by starting him on short rest is him being available in the bullpen in Game 7, which doesn't really seem worth the risk of sacrificing a good start from your best pitcher.

If they are down 3-1, he starts in my opinion

Yep. If I am them, and he is only making one start, I'd want it to be of the 125-pitch, dominant, fully-rested variety. He already looked like he was feeling it a bit as the game went on tonight. And he wasn't great in his last start with three days rest.

Give me a fully-rested Lester over Kershaw on fumes.

Roberts already showed how he's gonna play his cards with the Nats series starting Kershaw on short rest in Game 4 when they were faced with elimination and/or also being able to use him in the final game of the series out of the bullpen.

I'm not sure where all this wishful thinking re: Kershaw has come from lately. People were sure all day today and even during the game we were going to get to him and he only needed 84pitches to get through 7 shutout innings. I would be more enthused to face him on three days rest than five days rest but I can't imagine feeling good about it considering what we just saw.

Additionally, if it gets to that point, it'll be a tired Kershaw pitching in hot temperatures Thursday. Should still be around 90 at game time:

We were pretty close to 4 HRs off him tonight, Zobrist (who also had another hard hit ball), Russell, Rizzo and Javy. He was great for sure, but we fell just short on a few opportunities to get to him.

So some people think you're Kyle, some others think you're goony. I'm laughing for some reason. It's probably not as funny as my reaction is making it seem.

If it was another guy that would make me more confident. Like I said if he goes on short rest I'll feel better going into that game than I did coming into this one, but it's striking seeing people's opinions about him

"Oh it's playoff Kershaw we're going to get him."

*we don't get him*

"Well we almost got him. (Editors note 7 innings of two hit ball on just 84 pitches)

"Ok but we'all get him next time because it's gonna be hot outside"

Regardless, he's making one more start. And the point is: If he is making that start, I'd rather he be doing it on short rest. And even still, the Dodgers with someone else on the mound don't scare me. What is your deal tonight?

I was busy till the seventh, checked the score on my phone, then was busy some more, then saw that they lost.

Someone in our hockey game got in a yelling match with someone in the stands. Promises were made to meet each other outside after the game, which I do not believe happened.

It will be cool if the Cubs win three of the next five and kinda lame if they don't. It will happen either way based on some random baseball [expletive]. Eat at Arby's.

The Cubs need to win the next two. With Kershaw looming again on Thursday, you want to be ahead of that. Even though it would be Lester vs. Kershaw, you never know what can happen in a game like that. Similar to tonight, it could really go either way.

We have a favorable matchup against Hill with Jake on the mound Tuesday. You have to take advantage of that. The problem is, Russell and Rizzo are holding the offense back so much. You'd think they'd snap out of it at some point, but it doesn't seem like it's going to stop any time soon. Hill is a tough pitcher and he can shut us out. The bats are going to need to show up in full force if we want to win Tuesday.

Next game at Wrigley will be 28 Oct.

Liked.

Although clinching at home next saturday would also be acceptable.

Winning at Dodger Stadium will be tough. Never feels like we play well there and I hate how the stupid ball never carries in that park (maybe I'll end up liking that fact, who knows)

I'm trying to take a regular season mentality. We're entering a 3 game set, just try to take 2 of 3 though I have this feeling that we're going to have to come back in this series and win it (and we'll do it successfully)

I'm confident we can get to Kershaw just because we're a good team who just saw the guy. It's hard to shut down a team twice. A playoff run isn't going to come without it's tough moments, just gotta hang in there and pull this horsefeathers out.
