The night games are nice for two reasons, among others:

1. Mon-Fri people won't have to watch a horsefeathers playoff game on Gameday like a lot of us had to Game 4 against the Cards last year.

2. If something goes wrong in either game, I can just forget about it and fall asleep. Whereas afternoon game losses would require copious amounts of you name it to get through either Friday or Saturday night, completely ruining my weekend.

I'm rooting for the Mets. They are the worse team. I'd love to face Colon twice, instead of Cueto (if he is healthy). I also want revenge. And I want metsrefugees to burn.

But, really, I don't care. I'm just thrilled that the Cardinals aren't in it. horsefeathers them. I hope you enjoyed your shitty season.

My best friend is a Cardinals fan and he was texting me Sunday after the the Giants went up 5-0 saying, "it's over".

Like am I supposed to feel sorry? I'm a Bears Cubs fan, he's a Packers Cardinals fan. 29 years old. Don't ask for my pity please.

Packers/Cardinals fan?

Sounds like the worst possible type of sports fan.

sounds like he needs to reconsider that friendship

This trendy pick thing is becoming unbearable. One dork sees another dork tweet something, and it becomes conventional wisdom at light speed. Yes, the Giants are probably currently better than the Mets, but they were complete garbage the entire 2nd half.

Patrick Mooney is the worst. I don't know how he got his job (assuming family connection) but out of all the Chicago sports writers, he CLEARLY writes the most content with the "man I hope people click this link" angle.

I thought I was ok with the high-variance nature of the system, but I'm not. Neither of these teams deserve any chance to advance past the Cubs. They should thank us for taking the time to play some exhibitions and let their young players learn from watching us as we warm up for the NLCS.

yup. it's one thing to take the "let's win 95-100 games a year for a few years and see where the chips fall" but it's another to have to actually see the dominance and then face the gauntlet knowing that the next opportunity is a year away if things go well

I would feel a lot better about the NLDS if Jake was hoping for the Mets to win because he's scared of the Giants! But he doesn't care, so the Giants are going to win and sweep the Cubs.

I think this is a pretty easy choice right? It's the Mets -- the whole revenge angle, all their injured starters, facing a bunch of pitchers who won't intimidate us (save for Snydergaard) and we don't have to face Cueto and Bumgarner.

Also, if the Giants get eliminated then it ends this silly "even year" narrative crap and we don't have to deal with questions about their experience and ringz.

To me it seems like the best path to the WS is facing the Mets in the NLDS and the Nationals in the NLCS. I admit I don't want to face the Dodgers and I believe that will be a very tough matchup.

I stopped paying for tv service, but I am willing to pay to stream the mlb postseason. Unfortunately, mlb.tv only allows you to stream if you're already paying for the games through another service.

What are my options to stream these games? If I convince mlb.tv that I'm an international subscriber, then I'm good to go. Would that be my best option? Should I get a slingTV subscription and watch it that way?

SlingTV's Blue package is your most economical bet(aside from bumming someone else's cable login), $25/month for the plan that has both TBS and FS1. Playstation Vue is more expensive but would also work.

rooting for Baltimore for two reasons....if somehow they make the WS the Cubs match up better and the other is simple...they play baseball outside on grass like its meant to be played
