Cubs will get 4 full days of rest between October 2 and October 7

Damn, I was going to go see Radiohead on October 7...

Damn it. I knew it would be the case, but it's confirmed now. I'm gonna be at the Kanye concert during game 2 of the NLDS...assuming we're the night game. If not, I'll be pregaming during the Cubs game, which would be sort of fun, actually.l

I'd guess we are gonna be the late game unless 1 of San Francisco or LA jumps the Nats in the standings. Then maybe the West Coast game gets the late start.

It's cool we'll get like almost a full week of rest to set everything up (not that like, the last month of the season is anything but doing that)

i was hoping to watch a cubs game on my birthday (10/9), but i'll take a cubs playoff game a day before and after my birthday as compensation.

I'm just so giddy that the AL has to deal with TBS this year. [expletive] that [expletive] show

I was going to say the same thing. I enjoy watching games on FOX more and maybe their strike zone thingie will actually be accurate.

Well game 7 of the World Series is on my birthday, I want the Cubs to win the WS in less than 7 but if it went 7 what a nice present that would be.

unless they lose on your birthday and you would then forever be ruined

Wednesday wild card game means that if a team has an ace they'll be starting that game unless that guy HAS to go on the last day of the season. Which in turn means the wild card winner gets their #2 and #3 going against Arrieta and Lester.

how about they wrap it up early and the parade is on our birthday?

And said ace goes against Hendricks in game 3, which is hardly a huge disadvantage for us.

Ahh yes my birthday twin. That's a great idea.

Because we are on FS1 / MLBN are we going to get stuck with the weekday day games?

so all the weekday NLDS games (both series) would be day games?

Posted
oh god, please don't let that be the case.

that wouldn't make any sense is what i was saying

every nlds game (in either series) is on FS1/MLBN. they aren't all going to be day games.

No but a large majority of the 2015 ALDS games were weekday day games.

Edit: I'm probably just panicked at the even slight chance that I'll be stuck at work for a playoff game.

We don't need the time to set everything up, but the NL Wild Card game going 2nd makes it more likely the winner will have burnt their #1 starter with the extra day.

Last year's AL Series on FOX:

Royals - Astros: N D D D D

Jays - Rangers: D D N D D

Royals-Jays: N D N D D N

Last year's NL Series on TBS:

Cubs - Cardinals: N D N D

Mets - Dodgers: N N N N N

Cubs - Mets: N N N N

So that's 5 AL Night games vs. 11 day games and 11 NL Night games vs. 2 Day games

I'm not sure what the network agreements are, but it certainly seems like they do not have any control over night and day. Last year was unique because the only team in the playoffs that played in the western 2 time zones was the Dodgers and thus they are a perfect fit for the late game time slots . That plus the fact that they were playing a team from the largest media market meant that they got all night games. In the other NL series you had the Cubs so of course they will get night games too. Meanwhile in the AL you had a bunch of teams that were rather 'meh' in terms of National popularity. In addition, in 2 of the 3 series you had a team from Canada, which really doesn't do anything in the US outside of baseball diehards.

So I would guess that this year the proportion of day and night games by network is more even.

I have two more weeks of vacation to burn between now and December 1st. I guess I will take the week of Oct 25 and Oct 31st off, I had a dream the Cubs won the WS in 5 games at Wrigley a Sunday night. I will then go on a week long bender without a worry in the world.
