Again my acceptance of this trade hinges on the rumored extension. If the extension happens I'm fine with it on a baseball level though it pains me to give Torres.

Torres + seems like a huge overpay for a rental, I'm not a big fan of this at all. I really don't understand why it takes more than Torres, I think that's where they should have drew the line and even then it's an overpay. Ugg, it'll be nice to have the arm in the pen but that's quite a price to pay. I haven't read the report in his off the field issues and I won't, I care that he's probably the best reliever in the game.

I do wonder if they acknowledge to themselves that Torres is a high price to pay but it's the cost of doing business and they think Chapman is the top difference maker on the market.

that plus sign after torres could be a pretty big deal, although i wouldn't think so given that two months of a top 50 prospect is already quite a lot of value.

 

chapman is one of the few big difference making relievers in baseball, so hopefully he doesn't beat up or shoot any women in the next three months, and we'll have an amazing bullpen for the playoffs.
