June losses down get more frustrating and annoying.

Again I know what I saw I think Jones should have sent Wood. He would have scored IMO and even if he doesn't runner on 2nd and 1 out for Bryant

Either way it's really more on Bryant and Willson. On this night they just happened to really choke bad.

Expect to at least tie it with 2nd and 3rd with Bryant, Rizzo and Contreras coming up. Didn't have much hope for Javy, but you have to score there.

Eh He's really good against righties, but yeah all you need is Bryant or Willson to put the ball in play and they didn't. Very annoying

Contreras and Baez had no business swinging at the first pitch. He walked Montero, only threw one clear strike to Zobrist and only threw 2 of 6 in the zone to KB. You know he's going to come down and in. So just take the pitch. If he puts one right over the middle, oh well.

Meh, who cares. Not like the Mets are gonna make the playoffs. i wish Heyward or somebody had pinch run instead of Wood. If so, games tied right now. :/

Maybe not I just hate going into the weekend knowing we need to beat 2 of deGrom, Syndergard and Colon to have a winning road trip especially when the Cubs basically had to fail in every single one of the most critical 4-5 spots of the game to lose

Yeah, the Mets were letting the Cubs score with any grounder by Bryant. Just needed to make some contact. But the other dude gets paid too, I guess.

Seriously for a team that has been so patient this year it was really unlike him. He literally threw like 4 total strikes to 5 batters and managed to get 2 Ks and no runs allowed

the mets are probably even money to make the playoffs.

Well you knew either Bryant or Rizzo was getting walked and given his success against righties you knew Bryant would be the critical AB of the inning. After that you have a rookie in a very high leverage spot and a free swinger. Once Willson couldn't check on the 1st pitch it was not looking good for the Cubs

Anyone have the stat/rank as to where the Cubs stand with scoring with a man on third and less than two outs? They seem to struggle very often.

Not defending Peralta by any means, he's a washed up bum. But I doubt he's in the game tonight if not for the fallout from the Reds series taxing the bullpen. Edwards, Grimm and Wood were all probably unavailable to pitch tonight. This one sucks but games like these happen. This team competes in so many games a lot of teams roll over for or don't have a chance to be in. Tough/close losses are gonna be a byproduct of that

We used Cahill the very next inning. Madden horsefeathers the bed.
