I know you guys keep saying how Heyward will turn it on at some point, and believe it's probably true, but I'm getting really tired of having to qualify him actually making solid contact outs as him having a "good day". He either isn't having decent pitch recognition or he's lunging at the plate with every swing and can't catch up to a fastball.

2-3 against one of the toughest pitchers in the league.

Darwin Barney was probably awesome against someone too.

Look, not trying to pile on the guy, but does he have a nagging injury or is this is ceiling? When Fowler gets back I'd rather he not bat 2nd in this lineup.

I may just have blacked out memories of the rebuild, but losing strings seem to last forever when the team is good. Sunday night against Pittsburgh may as well have been in 2013

That's because in 2010-2013, there were no losing strings. There was losing with the occasional winning string.

You're asking if a guy with his track record has this as his ceiling?

Yeah, offense is so terrible w/ him hitting 2nd all year.

Why would you think this is his ceiling, based on his career numbers? Just wondering.

Nope, sorry. He's bad now. I know there's the whole .268/.353/.431 31.1 WAR over his first 5 seasons thing, but that was just SSS.
