OH MY GAWD, THAT'S BUTTERS(CUP)'S MUSIC.

Cubs blew it tonight, but the Cardinals are still actual trash. However, I'm here to Make The Cubs Great Again. I jumped back into Game Threads last season and won a crapload of games. Let's do it again.

It's felt like this teams been in a collective slump since the Cole game, but it really hasn't. Over the past 7 games:

We've got 2 guys in beast mode-

Zobrist: .429/.484/.607

Miggy: .357/.526/.500

Some respectable but not spectacular stretches-

Fowler: .241/.371/.448

Bryant: .250/.364/.571

Heyward: .269/.367/.385

Soler: .238/.333/.476

And some vomit inducing slumps:

Rizzo: .074/.194/.074

Russell: .083/.154/.125

Baez: .105/.105/.105 (there's something impressive, if not majestic about that, even at such a SSS.)

And we've had very solid starting pitching other than Lester the other night.

Put it all together, and it's not so much a slump as it is a string of baseball is stupid type close games that didn't go our way.

Which is exactly why I'm not worried.

There's a small part of me that's like "what if we never put it together again!" but all the math seems to say we're fine and if we end this slump soon it's pretty likely our division lead sky rockets. I hate the stupid cardinals and i hate that games like last night which happened in stupid may almost pissed me off like a playoff lost.

Destroy these idiots.

What we could really use is some kind of Bryan LaHair/Jake Fox type beast to emerge and mindless crush fastballs for a few weeks and then galumph off into the sunset.

How dare you.

Not mention Julio Zuleta? Agreed.

Maybe Julio Zuleta can get the bad juju out of Soler's bat.
