Do the Cubs seriously have no other left handed pitchers? This guy is supposedly a LOOGY but can't get lefties out (they're batting .353 against him this year, not counting tonight).

I mean Travis Wood but they're going to have to find a LOOGY at some point. Can't rely on Wood and Richard in October out of the pen again.

I have a theory that the front office cares very very little about having a good LOOGY.

He's not really a LOOGY, nor do we really have one, Richards is a mop up/swing guy. He just isn't very good. But we r complaining about the 25th man on the roster, most teams that's a revolving door position. I bet Edwards is up soon.

I doubt it. Maybe not a LOOGY but you need at least a decent LHP out of the pen. I think they think they can find one at the deadline. And I think it's gonna be Andrew Miller unless the Yankees keep winning.

It is only a theory, but the Cubs haven't really prioritized LH relievers. They gave away Wesley Wright after a good season, they waited til the middle of Spring Training to get Phil Coke and gave him the job, and cycled through more retreads(Russell then Richard) when he bombed. I think they want a guy who is left handed in the pen so that they can take advantage of the *hitter's* inability to hit LHP rather than the LHP's inherent awesomeness at getting same handed hitters out. When that reliever can serve a dual purpose like a long man(see Wood and Richard) that's even better.

That's not to say they'll actively avoid LHP, but the current 'gap' in LHRP is one that has been there since they non-tendered Wright. I don't think they care much that it continues as long as they have RHRP that are hard on them, like Grimm, Strop, and Rondon.

The Cubs didn't have a 4-9 stretch all of last year. Let's not have one this year either.

So far, so good.

Tonight was quite enjoyable. Thank you, Cubs.

I know batting order isnt that important. I know we are a very good team. But I wouldn't mind seeing Heyward and Soler switching in the order a game or two. Switch things up.

Of all the guys you want Heyward switched with, you pick the one guy you could argue was hitting worse entering the game?

Soler has been pretty good the last 7-10 days

That and I seem to remember he handled the 2 hole OK last year. I just wouldn't mind seeing something different, is all.

Wow yeah, St. Louis does have an ass ugly crowd.

Hey, I was out in the bleachers last night, and while I may not be much to look at, my gf is a fine looking lass.

Any chance we see Concepcion up as a left handed reliever this year? Got recently promoted to AAA and I don't think he's given up a run this year in something like 24 innings. What is with him anyway? His numbers were less than impressive before this year
