Ok Cubs. It's time to go back to the immortal Gods you were just a couple weeks ago and this guy is just the guy to get us there:

a873f013e2a943a8682d2aead008933eeda9cc07be7cae5c8a6fc3ad44ca8bb0_large

He's going to match up with this unworthy opponent (and against Jake, who honestly isn't):

And that blank stare is exactly what Peavy will be doing once we unleash the power of the dongs as he wonders in awe what hit him.

I'm going to be at this game with really good seats so I hope to post some pictures in the game thread.

Cubs win this 7-1 scoring all seven runs in the first three innings as Peavy gets an early shower and sees his already bloated ERA rise even more.

Go Cubs!!

The BABIP gods look favorably on their chosen one in this contest. Arrieta gives us 8 innings of 1 hit baseball (no doubt double to Crawford), only 3 Ks, but no walks. Cubs get 13 hits and 7 walks and win 6-0.

The Cubs are 3-5 in their last eight games. However, two of those losses were by 1 run, two by 2 runs and 1 by 3 runs. A couple things go different, they could have been 5-3 or better. Additionally, in that stretch, the Cubs are a +3 RD because of two big wins over Pittsburgh.

Despite going 3-5, the Cubs are still 28-11, which is a pace of 116 wins.

And the difference between the Cubs and the second best team (O's, White Sox, Nats, Red Sox) is 0.5 more than the difference between those teams and the 14th best team (Marlins).

That's a 4:15 AM start for me, so I'll pass.

Suffice to say I will enjoy the highlights of a Cubs win during breakfast.

I very much like our chances with Arrieta vs. Peavy and Lester vs. Cain. Hendricks vs. Mad Bum; not so much.

On a side note, if all healthy and in their prime, the Giants rotation (Mad Bum, Peavy, Cueto, Cain, Shark) would be one for the ages.

I think I'd rather get up for a 4:15am start than try to stay up for a late game. It's highly likely I'll fall asleep on the couch watching this one.

West coast times are the worst unless you live there.

The worst thing about the late start today is that the taste of that Brewers series has to linger for that much longer. Today is the day we needed a day game....

Yeah I didn't say he was wrong, was just curious myself how many late games they had left.

It would be totally fitting if the Cubs go around and just sweep the heck out of the Giants now.

The Cubs 4 game sweep of the Giants in 2015 was a totally edifying moment, it was awesome. I remember being at a barbeque or something watching Rondon pitch himself into and out of a jam and it was just incredible.

Pitcher batting 8th,

aren't there enough graphic artists in Silicon Valley to create a cool graphic for their line-up? Come on, Giants!

I wish I was going to this game instead of Sunday. Normally I'd enjoy a quality Bumgarner game... but it's supposed to be wet and cold and will probably be tough to score. Tonight, hopefully is a relaxing evening of watching Peavy get angry at himself.

I'd be surprised if it was wet Sunday. Looks like tomorrow is the best chance for rain (and even then, it's only a 30-40% chance tomorrow).

Hopefully it just rains in the morning and stays dry for the game. I don't particularly want to get wet.
