Cubs scored at least 4 runs on Locke every time they faced him last year. None of the lineups he faced had Jason Heyward or Ben Zobrist in them (obviously). 3 of those lineups had Welington Castillo at C, all had Denorfia or Lake and Castro (though he hit Locke well), and all had last year's version of Russell in them.

Here's some food for thought............

What's the status on Montero? I figured he'd be back on the club sometime this weekend. Maybe waiting til Monday with Ross certainly getting the start tomorrow (and probably today also)? Has anyone heard anything definitive?

I couldn't be happier to be back to the top of the rotation.

You say that like Hendricks, Lackey and Hammel didn't put up a nice ERA of 1.69 in their last turn through.

That's a nice threesome

Miggy below Addison is a new thing right? Wasn't like that earlier in the year.

Correct, Miggy lower in the order(especially against LHP) isn't new, but low enough that Russell passes him is a testament to Russell's hot streak and that it's Miggy's first game back(and against a LHP).

I just like watching Arrieta pitch. :shrugs:

Could just be for today because Locke is a lefty.

Not really. Didn't Kalish have to be DFA'd?

Why did we get rid of Kalish instead of Federowicz?

Kalish was probably going in the next week when Szczur is activated plus I'm sure Maddon likes having three catchers in terms of PH options. Also the Cubs seem to value Federowicz way more than Kalish and want to try to make sure they don't lose him.
