Wind is apparently howling in.

Probably a good thing since we have Hendricks going and Ross doesn't give up dongs anyway.

Hendricks doesn't really give up a ton either does he?

I keep thinking this Spencer Patton dude is that Rule 5 guy that we stashed on our roster like 4-5 years ago. Who am I thinking of?

in 99 career innings, joe ross gives up 0.63 HR/9 innings...kyle hendricks gives up .7 HR/9 innings in 283 career innings (.39 so far this year).

since the beginning of 2015, hendricks has given up 0.8 HR/9 innings, which is good for 22nd lowest among qualified pitchers in that span.

The lineup makes me ill. If you don't believe in Soler enough that you are starting Kalish it's time to send Soler to Iowa where at least he can try and figure things out and get some confidence back. Kalish has no business starting in the majors on a competitive team. Terrible lineup. I don't normally question Joe but I don't understand this one. I get that Left handers are hitting Ross better but Im still not getting why you start Kalish. I'd also rather see Baez in the lineup for the defense alone... *sigh* w/e I figured if we were going to lose one it would be tonight.

It's not a small gap between lefties and righties

Joe Ross thus far in his career

Maddon puts guys in a position to succeed. Putting Javy and Jorge in there probably isn't doing them any favors.

That's a lot of angst over the lineup of a 20-6 team.

David Patton, 2009. I did the same thing and thought it was pretty great he finally turned into something.

Edit: Well TT isn't the worst person to lose that race to. Oh well, FG is better than Baseball Ref (even though I used BR to find out who it was).

You know Scherzer is pitching tomorrow right?

Scherzer is a dong machine. Tomorrow there will be blood. I will also demand apologies from everyone after Kalish goes 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and makes a great defensive play.

Since twitter is freaking out over the lineup tonight, I think back to the start of the season when we were trying to figure out how to create the worst lineup possible with the current roster. Here is the worst offensive lineup I can come up with, only putting guys at positions they've played before

LaStella, 2B

Heyward, CF

Soler, LF

Baez, 3B

Kalish, RF

Ross, C

Federowicz, 1B

Russell, SS

Federowicz played 2 games at 1B in his career. Heyward is assuming gimpy wrist version, and Russell is legally bound to 7-9th in the order.

I'm not particularly pumped to see a game that has our worst picher (who is still quite good) paired with Ryan Kalish and Tim Federowicz, but this team has shown that it can win games with every arrangement of players so we'll see.

Beat Dusty's Nats and wipe that smug look off Bryce Harper (Who will for sure hit no less than 5 home runs in this series)

I know the game was Monday, but I must get this off of my chest. Ross and Szczur each stole bases on the double steal of 2nd and home, but not only did neither of them get credit for a steal, but Szczur also got charged with a caught stealing even though he scored on the play, and no one was out.

Is it scored as a CS because it's believed that an accurate throw would have nailed Szczur at home, and Ross doesn't get credit for the stolen base because if Szczur doesn't go home he's out easily?

Oh yeah, I noticed this too, that was totally bizarre

It must be a statitiscian's error or something right?

Yeah, that lineup is ugly -- well, at least it is as ugly as you could make a lineup with this team. Oh well, we'll still win 7-2.

I'm really pumped up for this game, though. I know after the last series we pretty much quelled all the talk about, "We'll see how they do when they play some good teams." And a loss here or there doesn't really matter with this team, except maybe from a historical perspective. But I really want to exert our dominance against everyone, especially the other top teams. So a split here is just not acceptable in my completely warped reality. Getting the first one would be a major step toward taking at least three.

If only Willson Contreras was here, he might help prevent us from a 20-7 start.

maddon is in popovich mode. there's a little bit of hype around this series, so he's just trolling everyone. then we'll probably win anyways.

Sure, but does he even care about or run differential!?
