the sharp edge of the plastic casing at the end of the bat (holding the ball) whiffed his head

Did it? I was thinking he was just reacting to the whoosh of air. Like, "whoa, is there a bird landing on me?"

maybe. we need a CSI guy to enhance a reflection

Or someone he's talking to is reacting, like, "LOOK OUT" to the kid and he's reacting to that reaction.

We have become gif Truthers. This game is too far away.

Nobody we see has any reaction.

Then maybe he's talking to someone not in the gif.

Maybe, maybe.

Or is that one of those bats that has an internal noise mechanism and he's just hearing it after the bat clears?

I think he may be possessed.

Fangraphs now projects the Cubs to win 100 games. It's May 6 and that's the median projection.

And 93.4% for the division now.

Looks like he definitely grazes him with the plastic to me. I just zoomed in on my IPhone while watching it and on the swipe up you can totally see some hair rise with the motion.

At what point do we talk about 116 wins as a thing that could happen?

It's already coming up here and there.

If we're at the all star break or so and are still on this 120 win pace dating back to mid-late last season, that's when it'll be really real to me (or, in other words, 117 or more in our last 162).

I kinda wanna see Strasburg pitch a game vs us where he throws a lot of pitches but not many runs just to see if Dusty/we would kill him.

The 98 Yankees won 114 games while only going 15-11 in September. They had won 100 games by September 4th. Jesus Christ. Just horsefeathering silly.

I can't believe we're in this discussion. The horsefeathering 2016 cubs could be one of the best teams ever. I just wish baseball playoffs weren't so crapshooty and more like the NBA where I'd be completely confident of at least a world series appearance.

Have you seen the projections for the top NL and AL teams? If this were more like the NBA playoffs, the current NBA playoffs would be a pretty good comparison, where the championship deciding series takes place in the NL Championship (Western Conference Finals). There's a chance the top 4 or 5 teams come from the NL.

What is the best 162 game stretch in history when taking into count multiple seasons?

I would assume it would be either the 1905-1906 Cubs, 1906-1907 Cubs since they won 116 in 152 games, so either taking the last 10 games of 1905 or the first 10 games of 1907 and combining that with the 116 wins of 1906?

Im sure the 98 Yankees coupled with the end of 97 had a crazy 162 game stretch considering they were 15-11 in September of 98 and still won 114. So they were obviously ahead of a 114 win pace most of that season.

What other teams had crazy 162 game stretches?

What is the Cubs record the past 162 games? I know they started getting hot around June/July of last year & i think were well over a 100 win pace the last couple months of the season to get to those 97 wins.
