I think the closest anyone came to that was the much maligned hipster dork Jason Parks's comments

Didn’t he U Turn on Javy pretty hard, too? It’s almost as if he started watching him play a lot more when he was trying to get a Cubs job and realized how good he was.

nah he wasn't with the cubs when he said that. he was still a media prospect evaluator.

he fell off the map once he got the cubs job

For all the people who were on board with Javy's bat and defensive skills (and I won't include myself here. I was very skeptical), I don't think there's anyone... Javy included... who knew he could change a game with his base running instincts. I think that as this season has progressed, Javy's mindset has changed from "let's try this" to "Man, I can really horsefeathers with these guy's minds. I'm going for it!" He's had a very high success rate, in part because he does know when to push it. He's gone beyond good baseball instincts; his baseball intelligence is off the charts.

I don't think intelligence is the right word. He's using the force or something. A less obvious reference is that he has the powers of the cerulean blue pusher guy from the X-Files.

strangely enough, if i remember right, he wasn't necessarily anti-javy, he would just kind of always compare him to lindor and talk about how much worse he was than lindor, so he ended up kinda being right

He was bipolar on Javy but was never outright down on him

Way back in January of 2014, Parks was asked to compare Baez and Carlos Correa of the Houston Astros. “Both could be all-stars; Baez could be a religion,” Parks replied.

After a dominating run across two levels in 2013, Baez was a darling of the offseason prospect hype machine, and when he arrived in camp this spring and continued the onslaught I agreed to name all offspring I might create in the future after him. But 2014 hasn’t gone as planned for the 21-year-old, and we are nearing the point in the season where the sample size is significant enough to validate the concerns about his offensive struggles

...

"Baez will be fine," Parks told me.

"Has a lot of approach issues to work out. Likely to be Sosa type over Cabrera type. Big power but inconsistent contact. Baez is going to take a lot a time, even when he starts to figure out AAA---which will happen. MLB arms will punish him for a while".

"Baez tries to hit everything," Parks continued. "He doesn't have his spot locked in yet. Very similar to a young Sosa. He just swings it".

"But once he learns how to avoid swinging at pitches in his problem areas and focuses on swinging when he gets 'his pitch,' he will take off."

Maybe that's what I was thinking of. I do remember that debate well.

Yeah, but his value now isn't because he became a better defender than Russell; nobody called what actually happened. The idea that he would click was basically hinged on the idea that he's an excellent defender with a ton of pop; if he can just figure out some patience, lay off some of the garbage pitches he loves to go for and learn how to take a walk, he might turn into something special. Instead he basically just was all, "nah, horsefeathers that; I like being me."

I didn't think his increased value was predicated on becoming a better defender. I thought he had untapped potential on offense and that is what is happening. I thought he would draw more walks and become a little more patient. He only has 21 BB this season so that hasn't happened yet.

I definitely saw him hitting for more power. I think I saw this type of season happening in 2-3 seasons down the road (with a little higher OBP/more walks), but not this soon.

Maybe once you turn 18 or whatever, you'll learn just how obnoxious it is when you make posts just to suck your own dick

Geez, really lol? Come on, there's plenty of guys here who bring up things from time to time they're right about. I don't see anything wrong with what Regular Show just said. Hell, Javy was an absolute lightning rod, there's been more of that with him, than with anyone probably. horsefeathers, the only other thing that's probably had more play was the whole rebuild debate. We've all been right some, we've all been wrong some.

I have no idea what is going on with that guy. Weird horsefeathers. He wrote this a while back in the 2018 Draft thread to me:

A lot of posters here really like LHP - M. Liberatore so I'll post the link to a recent article on Fangraphs. I still think the Cubs have no chance at him, and it's kind of a waste of time to dream on getting him. I do think his velocity picks up as we get closer to the draft, and that he gets taken in the 2-8 range.

You know a lot about draft prospects and you post a lot of cool horsefeathers about them and I'd like to benefit from your knowledge rather than wanting to choke you out.

I didn't even bother responding back then because someone did it for me lol. Like I said a weird horsefeathers. If I owned a store and he was the customer I would probably say this to him:

[expletive], that is some random, gr-esque rage.

I know right? I'm assuming you're talking about the random "choke you out" part lol?

Also, choking people out isn't especially satisfying, for what its worth.
