The Cubs move on from a weekend thrashing of the Reds to a Brewers team that is second to the Reds in runs allowed, without the benefits of already having played the Cubs 7 times.

I should hope for more of the same from the Cubs.

ESPN just said we need to win by 3 or more, I think, in order to be in the top 5 all time for run differential after 20 games. Let's do that, please.

Going off B-R (since 1900):

1902 Pirates +81

1905 Giants +80

2003 Yankees +79

1918 Giants +73

1939 Yankees +71

We had the 4th best RD after 17 games (behind the Pirates and both Giants teams) and are tied with the 39 Yankees for 5th best RD after 19 games (behind the other four teams above).

I have no idea who this Nelson fellow is, but I bet he isn't looking forward to Tuesday's start.

This will be Nelson's eighth career start vs. the Cubs. He's been in the league since 2013.

What? A day off? Ugh, cancel the whole damn day.

I might actually watch the Blackhawks tonight.

16 of our next 19 games at Wrigley Field

cubs and white sox have home games first and last weekends of May, which I always thought they tried to avoid

(having both teams play at home at the same time)

I've noticed that they are both home at the same time a few times a year, maybe 3-4 overlapping series.

When I worked downtown during those series I would go onto the Red Line platform and see Cubs fans jumping off the southbound trains and White Sox fans getting on.

that's something that is impossible to avoid in two team cities.

It only happens a couple times a year so I think the schedulers are pretty deliberate about avoiding it where possible, or at least they used to be.

well yeah, they try to avoid it as much as possible but it happens regularly enough

Friday, May 6th will be my 5th consecutive year doing a crosstown doubleheader. It's so great every damn time. Though this year, like most, it will be a Cubs day game followed by a Sox night game. It's much funner the other way around because of the better pre/post game options for a Wrigley night game...unless you have someone sober enough to drive to the Cell, in which case the tailgating is still fun.

i remember hopping on Red line one time and it was full of sox, cubs, and Bears fans... all with home games. (Bears pre-season)
