I'm so relieved I didn't post in that thread.

I'm incredibly fortunate that I was still a lurker back then, because I would have made some posts that would look really bad in hindsight. Wait... I mean, yeah, I was always a fan of that trade. I've been Team Arrieta from Day 1.

I kinda think you're Tangled up in Plaid since that thread reminded me he just up and vanished last year.

What a [expletive] shock you weirdo. I was wrong on Arrieta, I forgot your Bill James self had him becoming Cy Young

when you're that wrong we just get to make fun of you for being one of the more vocally wrong people.

just like i get to have robot jokes made on 50% of my posts for, uh, reasons

The funny thing is his weird obsessive grudge started because I made a joke about Arismendy Alcantara being at the top of his prospect list alphabetically, (and maybe because of his manlove for Porcello?)

ETA: Maybe because I was wrong about Michigan's recruiting class too?

lol wut

literally none of that has anything to do with anything; what you said just really sounded like Samardzija's comments there

Man, I need to go look and see what pitches he's throwing now.

He's got a great arm and I wouldn't be surprised to see him sent to Iowa to learn how to throw the cutter we've all been hearing so much about that has apparently helped out Travis wood so much. That and having him throw less different types of pitches. Right now he has a 4 seam, a sinker, a slider, a curve, and a change. I wouldn't be surprised to see that cut down to 3 of those plus a cutter. As smart as the FO is, I have to believe they see something fixable in this guy to bring him in in a trade like this.

He's still throwing the exact same 5 pitches you listed.

I love this. The actual video is full of the dumbest logic ever.

My goodness that video is amazing.

"Innings pitched over the last two years 156 and then last year 229. Before then, for three years before then, Skip, he pitched 75 innings, 23.2 innings - only started three games at that time - and then of course you have 51.2 innings."

So this was an exact quote. Stephen A. Smith doesn't know how to read B-R (this is not the least bit surprising). Those three years he talked about were actually one year. He threw 75.1 overall in 2013, 23.2 with Baltimore and the rest with the Cubs. And not only that, Stephen A doesn't know how to read numbers because Jake started 5 games with Baltimore that year.

Nevermind that he also threw 79.1 in AAA in 2013, because apparently those don't count. His actual innings count by years starting 2011 was 119.1, 170.2, 154.2, 176.2, 229

I love when people point to his lack of innings in Baltimore and his jump in Chicago as suspicious, despite not taking into account that when you're not a good pitcher, you don't pitch deep into ballgames and don't accrue large inning totals. I'm sure there are tons of pitchers who are capable of throwing 200+ innings year in and year out, but they don't because they're not good enough to make it past the 5th or 6th inning, which is kinda what Jake was in Baltimore.
