Ross and Fowler are on the score now. Ross is hilarious.

Asked about his relationship with Lester:

(Paraphrased) "we have a love hate relationship. On game days it's hate. I get on his case and make sure I'm getting the most out of Johnny. It's like "dude it's my one day to play don't screw this up for me. You suck and I only get 2 ABs because they PH for me"

"Don't suck or I'll only get 2 ABs" is awesome

Edit: Tweet got cut off for some reason and the link just goes to ESPN home page. Anyways, Rondon says he feels good/better is throwing again on Friday and then after that they will figure out when he will pitch in games again.

Since the All-Star break, the Cubs are 18-1 when scoring 2 runs or more. The loss was a bottom 9 walkoff against the Sox.

this is an incredible stat

Also check out the Cubs starter eras month by month:

Maybe the most shocking but gratifying thing about this teams success the last two years is that its strongest facet has been its starting pitching. Effectiveness, health, dependability. And thats the facet of the game the Cubs have self-consciously thrown together as its needed to. Not through the draft, but through smart trades, evaluation, and coaching. Its incredible.

This was in the Cardinals thread. But, who care about the Cardinals anymore. This is all about Cubs Dominance.

Can someone figure out the Cubs record since the Phillies swept them last year & the Cardinals record from the same date?

Quick mental math so I might be off by a game or so, but:

Cubs: 118-60

Cardinals: 97-82

21.5 games

checks out. that's .663 for the Cubs.

If we finish this out today we are at 119-60 over 179 games.

Thats a 107.7 win pace. Round up to 108 cause that sounds friggin awesome and the Cubs have played at a 108 win pace over an ENTIRE season of baseball at 179 games.

& that was with a horrid month long stretch.

Hell they are at a 108 pace & I'd guess underperformed their pythag. They have probably been playing closer to a 110+ win team for around 180 games.

Using my super expert eye, honed by decades of critical observation, I think Lester and Arrieta both mechanically looked as strong as they have all year. Specifics schmecifics

Oh, and at this point the difference between the Red Sox offense and the Cubs offense on paper is the DH and BABIP. That has probably been true at all points this year, just feels good to look at on FanGraphs. This offense, I believe anyway, is going to outright dominate in 2017 and/or 2018 with some minor tweaks, adds, and breaks.

you mean like Schwarbs coming back as a top 15-20 bat in MLB?

It's kind of interesting how every single one of our rapid bullpen/starter acquisitions wasted absolutely no time to announce their suckiness. Brian Matusz, Mike Montgomery and Joe Smith were garbage the second they took the mound.

I guess we can thank them for that?

1. Sign Usain Bolt

2. Teach him how to bunt

3. ??????

4. PROFIT!

I'd say there is quicker players in the world to 1B than Usain. 1B is essentially a 30 yd dash, and you will see a few guys ahead of Usain to about 50 yd's but then his long strides take over and its done.
