Not adding Giminez keeps the 40 man at 39, right? Maybe they are considering a late addition?

That's a good thought, but with Simmons, Mazzoni, Rosario, and Farrell all on the 40 man currently, there's plenty of flexibility to open up a spot if they truly wanted Gimenez up to start the year.

Caratini made the team over Gimenez, that is very surprising to me.

Yeah, that surprised me too. I thought Gimenez locked up the backup C spot. Caratini is the better hitter and more versatile.

Did any veteran catchers get cut this week? Seems like an odd move and minimizes some depth.

Edit: saw Gimenez is going to Iowa. Seems weird still to not got Caritini regular playing time.

Maybe get him some playing time at the ML level to increase his trade value at the deadline.

The projected opening day lineup (outside of Lester) doesn't have a player over 28 in it, has 6 players 26 and under and 5 players 25 and under assuming the lineup is Schwarber/Happ/Heyward OF Bryant/Russell/Baez/Rizzo IF and Contreras Catching.

Urena, Miami's opening day starter, is a righty, so that seems like the likely lineup, unless he gives Zobrist the start at second. Don't know if Maddon has come out with anything for the lineup against lefties...based on last year I'd like to see Almora and Schwarber essentially platoon (with Happ shifting back and forth), but they might want to give Schwarber ABs against lefties too. Almora has had a pretty terrible spring, especially as the player getting the most ABs (52 ABs, .173/.204/.346). I know Spring stats don't mean anything, but the way Schwarber and Happ have hit might give them most of the starts to begin the year.

But the farm system is bare, so we’re doomed. DOOMED

Our 6-8 pitchers can't match up with anyone else in the league, either. STEEEAAARRRRNNNS!!!!!

Apparently Maddon said when Happ plays he’s gonna be hitting leadoff. I’d still set number of leadoff hitters used this year at 6.5 and take the over

I, personally, do not think 7 different players will hit leadoff for us.

Happ, Zobrist, Almora, Rizzo will get his token game or 2, Schwarber, LaStella, Baez/Russell and some AAA/FA guy are all options I see getting at least a game
