I know it’s not new to many (any?) on here but these 21 minutes are amazing. I typically cry a couple times. More than once I’ve had a bad day and turned to it.

I still get horsefeathering chills from that final ground ball.

Crazy not even Joe Buck can stop the chills from happening.

Now play the Hughes call to watch me break down.

I alwAys thought the Pat Hughes call of the final out was pretty underwhelming.

I think the Hughes call of the Cubs eliminating the Cardinals from the NLDS is much better than his World Series winning call.

"I wish you could all be here right now" is an incredible Hughes line from that night.

Perhaps objectively speaking, but from an emotional standpoint, hearing Hughes call it brings the feels.

The thing about Hughes making the call is who follows playoff baseball on the radio?

I do, for one. At least I did that series.

Because of driving home late from work I listened to the Game 4 NLDS rally on the radio. Got home in time to see the clinching outs.

Yeah, I was going to bring that up too.

I ton of people listen to Cubs games in the car. If I could listen to Pat Hughes and Ron Santo again I totally would take that over the TV broadcast (I know that sounds weird). I really miss Ron Santo...

I know it’s sacrilege on this board but I much prefer Pat & Ron (even Coomer) to Len & JD. It has more of a feel of watching the game with your idiot friends instead of smart guys dictating the action to you.

I regularly overlay the radio broadcast with the tv footage using the MLB TV package.

I love this take. I don't agree with it, but I love it

According to Kaplan, Kris Bryant's service time grievance is going to be heard this week.

I can't imagine Bryant winning, since it would seem to open the door for grievances all over MLB.

Also, why did they wait 4 years to resolve this?

Yeah I can’t imagine him winning, what total BS with the timing of this for the remote chance he wins and becomes a FA after the year. I think this definitely ups the chances he’s moved.

I'm not sure what they can do to win the grievance unless the Cubs were dumb enough to leave evidence of someone in the Cubs FO stating that they were going to have Bryant start the season in AAA in order to circumvent the MLB's service time rules.

I kinda hope the Cubs DO get burned on this, but only if it changes the dumb service time rule into a not-dumb service time rule

I kinda hope they get burned too, but even if the Cubs lose and KB is granted another year of service time it won't change the service time manipulation/shenanigans that teams do. That has to be negotiated in the next CBA discussion and this current agreement ends after the 2021 season. I hope this gets addressed and minor league pay (they honestly have a ton of things to negotiate).

It's going to be contentious...

I have to be 100 percent honest: I hope we have him for two more seasons and not one. Not one part of me hopes he wins this hearing.

I will accept being called names.

I feel this way too. Especially with the timing of this to potentially have 1 year left if he wins. If this went to arbitration in 2015/16 and he won its workable to plan around, but this would be a big blow. I also wish we knew what we’ve offered him over the years in extensions that he’s turned down.

I'm pretty much always in favor of labor over ownership IRL, but always in pro sports. If the Cubs lose a year of control, so be it. I'm cool with that short term pain if it can somehow contribute to structural change.
