Not like the sick leadoff hitter they had today.

Almora would be Dusty's other pet

Think lower, who is Tom Goodwinesque on the roster right now?

I'm hoping that he could be included for a closer that is an upcoming FA on a team rebuilding (like Herrera), but I doubt he has enough value for that.

It makes a lot more sense to hold onto him and pray that his hitting is affected by his hand injury

I'll eat crow if he becomes good but I still hope he's gone.

To pile onto IMBs thoughts, the best season of his career (2016) is equal to Khalil Greene's avg. year (+94 RC).

I was stupid and didn't want them to trade him last offseason because I figured 2017 was just an off year and he'd after more value after he rebounded.

This time next year, he'll be Chris Giminez on offense and will have also developed gout or syphilis or something and will suck on defense.

I keep hoping he’s hurt like Zo was last year and just needs the offseason to get healthy.

that would mean he's been unhealthy for 2 years in a row, which wouldn't fill me with confidence either

Geez, I mean, he's had a bad season. No doubt about it. But it's not like a player has never had a bad season (or two) and come back the next year or anything. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But I'm not ready to declare him terrible forever at

only twenty fourrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

You weren't the only one. Posters jumped all over me when I suggested that he should be traded while he still had a decent reputation. My other suggestion was that we should have traded Schwarber when he was the second coming of Babe Ruth. Now that he's a platoon LF/DH, his value has dropped too.

if posters jumped on you for suggesting these trades, it must have been for your suggested returns

in fairness, everytime i give you a suggestion, you just don’t reply and then when i check the papers there are never any stories about a guy who shoved his head up his own butt

Couple his season with the fact he's a shitty human being, I'm sure most are over him. Strictly from a baseball standpoint, my guess is he'll be healthier and back to not being a complete black hole offensively. That said, I'm over him, trade him for a solid reliever and be done with it.

Actually I don't think there were any suggested returns. It was a discussion about trading off our ML roster because the ml are pretty bare and posters were suggesting Happ and/or Almora and I posted that Russell and Schwarber ould be included because their "names" might get us a better return and we could have in house replacements.

Hasnt it been two in a row?

Hoping these injuries really messed him up because if its not that then its looking like bust territory for Russell.

Wasnt he out significant time last year?

wait, are you seriously suggesting that major league assets should be traded because minor league depth isn’t as strong as it was when those major league guys were in the minors?

I think the discussion had to do with getting a young, controlled TOR starter (i.e. Archer, Stroman, etc.). Obviously we don't have the ml prospects to compete with other teams offering 2 or 3 top prospects plus a couple other good prospects, so the discussion turned to the ML roster.

Well, outside of people not wanting to give up on him yet at that point, it was also the double whammy of selling relatively low on him after a shitty season. They were kinda stuck with him at that point in terms of hoping he'd bounce back.

i wanna see the receipts

edit: i found it. you wanted to trade russell for iglesias, with your reasoning being that he was more expendable with baez on the team, and it would open up 2b for happ. people gave you a hard time because they didn't like russell for iglesias, and your logic for wanting to move him was flawed. people were open to trading russell.

I don't think that was the only discussion that I was involved with concerning trading ML assets, but I sure wish we would have made that trade.
