I am really not happy about Pulisic doing the "Trump dance" after the first goal.  Apparently a bunch of NFL players and MMA fighters did it over the weekend as well.  It shouldn't bother me but it does.  Unless he was mocking Trump my impression of him has changed for the worse.

Vazquez is having an awful couple of games

Could easily have 3 goals in the 2 legs.  Just some awful inaccurate shot attempts.

This was pretty much assumed of Pulisic before this particular event, wasn't it?

Yeah it was well known that he was pretty conservative and religious.  It's one thing to have conservative views and another to glorify and normalize a fascist felon.  I'm not going to cancel him or whatever but I cant pretend it doesnt bother me.

Because of all these NFL, soccer and MMA players doing the dance, the perception I've seen is that MAGA is "cool" now and people who would previously hide their views are now unafraid to be outwardly vocal about it.  Again, trying to make Trump seem fun and cool is just a terrible look considering the destructive policies he is about to unleash.

Enough about maga Messi (I’ll just say I’m glad  he isn’t overt or aggressive about his politics because I accept the existence of DT’s popularity but prefer not be reminded), here’s Poch talking  about using Jedi to move into central mid when attacking (like a left-sided Phil Lahm) to get an overload and drive the ball up.

I think this is going to be key to actually breaking teams down and I can’t wait to see a healthy Dest added to the mix.

So, are City broken? First time Pep has ever lost 5 straight games in his career. The underlying numbers aren't good either so it's not like they're just crushing teams and getting unlucky. I mean obviously they're not going to lose every game and they'll still finish top-4. But something clearly isn't right.

As for Spurs, their ability to get results against City always baffles me. They've got the second best record against Pep for teams he's faced more than 5 times, behind only Liverpool. And while Liverpool makes sense because they had Klopp for almost all of those games, Spurs have churned through managers and all of them have beaten Pep. Poch, Jose, Nuno, Conte and now Ange all won at least 1 game against City.

Also, they're going to lose to Fulham by exactly a goal next week because that's what they do. If these idiots had just beaten Palace and Ipswich, who have a combined 0 wins this year in 21 games when not playing Spurs, they'd be second right now.

I came here half expecting a post about PSV's epic late comeback against Shaktar featuring three goals by their US players prompting AS to use the word "Americanada" 😎

Tillman has never replicated his form at PSV with the national team, so we’re all kind of reserved about him. Even despite stuff like this:

pepi’s form is exciting, and leading the league in goals as a reserve is great, but we’ve had strikers put up huge numbers in the ere and then move to a bigger league and struggle. With both players we’re all waiting to see do it consistently in tougher leagues. It’s all looking good tho. We’ll see.

that second Tillman goal was sublime . . . but he was good all game long. but, against Shakhtar

Desperately wanted him to win this so there would be a trophy named for Landon Donovan somewhere (way in the back) of the greatest individual trophy room in the history of the sport. That is very funny to me, and probably LD, as well.

Bro if Jedi had chosen England, he would be the starting left back for England and Liverpool and making a lot more money.

Very glad he didn’t, but he’s one of the most underrated players in the world.

Juventus is undefeated this season. Juventus is in 6th place and 9 points back of 1st. The reason? They've tied 10 of the 16 games this year.

I sent that to my brother earlier and he wondered if any team has gone through a season undefeated and not won the league. It's happened a few times but only once in one of the big 5 leagues. In 1978-79 Serie A, Perugia went 11-19-0 and finished in 2nd, 3 points back of top. But that's not what's notable.

Here's the league table:

image.thumb.png.06a70b119ee9ec92a31b63e894af7281.png

So every team tied at least 10 of their 30 games. Only 2 teams scored 40 goals and only 6 teams even got to 30, which is 1 per game. So 10 of the 16 teams didn't even average a goal per game.

In England that year, only 10 of 22 teams tied over 1/3 of their games and only 1 team averaged less than 1 goal per game. In Germany, only 8 of 18 teams tied 1/3 of their games (I included the 5 teams that tied 11 of 34 games) and no teams averaged less than a goal per game. In Spain, only 4 of 18 tied 1/3 of their games and 2 averaged less than a goal per game. Wikipedia has the full H2H matrix and there are a lot of 0-0 draws on there.
