I’m ok with starting Brendo when the team’s effort is in question. At least that guy will battle.

thank goodness Poch is on board to "clean up this horsefeathers"

Watching the Poch presser. Spanish language journos dominating the q&a. Very interested to see what having a native Spanish speaker does to grow the Latino USMNT fanbase. Feels great to have such a famous manager be so accessible to that underserved audience.

Ange better figure some shit out quickly or else he'll be out of a job soon.

After picking up 26 points out of 30 to start last year, Spurs have only 44 points in 32 games since. They really good at moving the ball around and maintaining possession but really struggle to generate good chances. They basically did nothing the last two games against Newcastle and Arsenal. They didn't have a single good chance today and their best two chances against Newcastle were the own goal and a near own goal. If you're supposed to be an offensive minded coach, your team should probably be better offensively.

possession is over-rated

For sure. Unless you’re generating good chances (which Spurs aren’t), it’s not going to get you very far.

my observation is that it's much easier to score on the counter than it is when you pin a team in. you have to have exceptional technical talent to break down defenses once they are set up, even Barca seems to be realizing this (perhaps because they can no longer afford the exceptional talent)

the games so far sure don't sell the new format. well, except dortmund-brugge, which was a fantastic watch

So we have the new expanded Club World Cup every four years that was supposed to replace the old yearly version. Apparently the old version is sticking around under a different name.

I hope the players strike happens because this is just getting stupid.

Barca played Thursday, today, and again Tuesday. wtf?

Ter Stegen's season appears to be over. Maybe an opportunity for that young American (Diego Kochen) whose name I already forgot? Inaki Pena is their backup but he was a disaster last year.

Side note, if you want to see the rise of a star, tune in for Lamine Yamal. Real deal

Going to need someone to explain to me how this is a red card. I get that Fernandes goes high and it looks bad. But he went high because he slipped and not only that, he just trips Maddison and never gets him with the studs. If he had slipped and got Maddison in the knee with his studs, okay. That could take out a guys knee. But we can't be giving straight reds for tripping a guy. VAR cleared it too and didn't even have the ref take a look.

Not sure it would have affected the outcome since Tottenham were in control but you never know. ManU still had 45 minutes at home to tun it around.

In real time and on the initial replays I saw on social media it seemed to be pretty straight forward that he raked Maddison high with his studs, so I understand the initial red given the ref's angle.  Why VAR didn't recommend downgrading to a yellow when they had the angle showing he didn't get him with the studs is another example of the weird incompetence/hubris that surrounds VAR decisions from EFL refs.

on the other hand, fernandes would have reacted like he'd been shot by a cannon ball if the situation was reversed so live by the sword, die by the sword

Yep. I’ve got no issue with the refs initial call. It certainly looked bad from his angle so I understand why he gave the red.

horsefeathers yeah, Greece! Get in.

Did it for George Baldock and thoroughly outplayed England. Had the ball in the back of the net 5 times. Incredibly proud this morning.
