one thing we dont talk about enough is how the mariners won the griffey trade

Got 4 all star caliber seasons from Mike Cameron and 2 more almost all star caliber seasons from Randy Winn (by way of Antonio Perez) in exchange for one great season of Griffey and a barely above replacement level rest of his career.

But hey, the Reds were eventually able to trade Griffey to the White Sox for Nick Masset.

The Randy Winn trade was really Piniella for Randy Winn.

Which was insane. Winn had finally figured it out and was damn good in his last season with the Devil Rays. It'd be roughly equivalent to trading Javy Baez after this season to acquire Matt Williams or something.

Also, Piniella sucked.

an atheist isn't the opposite of mormon, a bachelor is the opposite of mormon. Because a mormon marries lots of ladies and a bachelor marries none.

You're both wrong. A nomrom is the opposite of a mormon.

Do you know Oakland is ten games over .500? Go ahead, look it up

No, but I'm completely unaware of much about the AL, and I'm barely aware of happenings outside of the division.

I'm a dad now. If my jokes don't make people cringe I'm doing them wrong.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I was thinking about walk off walks today and was wondering about what, if anything, has to happen to make the game officially over.

Does the batter have to touch first base?

Does the runner on third have to touch home base?

If the batter were to be mobbed by his teammates in celebration before he reaches first could he be considered to have been running outside the base paths and therefore out?

If the batter were to start to be mobbed by his teammates before he reaches first could he be considered to have been running outside the base paths and therefore out?

I don't have the legalese answer, but I assume that all that needs to happen is for the runner to cross the plate. The game ends the moment that happens, and I'm struggling to think of a way where the person who took a walk could be ruled out before that happens. And even then that would only matter if there were two outs.

I guess the follow up would be what happens if the runner on third say joins his teammates at the mound celebrating before he touches home (assuming two outs)?

correct; more HR than Harper, too

Indians DFA'd him and gave Edwin Encarnacion $65M (possibly in reverse order), to be barely replacement level this year- and they're a very smart team! Stearns seems like he might be one of the best in the game

I am not sure. The only remotely plausible circumstance I can think of for that is if the pitcher starts cussing out the hitter on ball 4 and incites a brawl.

I'm struggling to find the rule, but I believe the batter has to reach first and runner has to cross the plate. I do believe umps can call the batter out if he does not reach first, but that would only potentially matter with 2 outs

I believe that all of the runners that could be gotten out via force outs need to reach their respective bases, and the winning run needs to touch the plate.

There are no force outs available in a walk situation, so this can't be right.
