If it came to Busch, they better have a checkpoint before entering the field.

So if this is true this means there is a potential that there might be a Cubs game where we will only be able to watch on Facebook and nowhere else?

unless this is like thursday night football, where they only got trash matchups (which i doubt, given how many baseball games there are available to choose quality matchups from), we're absolutely going to have cubs games on this thing

I'd assume it would be like the Thursday night football games that Twitter/Amazon have had, where you could still watch on local tv.

MLB Network would be producing the games, I saw, so I'm not convinced they'll be available locally. Losing a Len and JD game would suck.

Stolen from GRB:

And by exclusive, they mean exclusive: Not even users subscribing to the league's MLB.TV service get access. Fans can watch the games on the MLB Live show page on Facebook Watch, which will be globally available aside from "select international markets," according to a press release. Each of the 25 Facebook-exclusive games will be in the afternoon (typically 1PM or 4PM ET), so no prime-time yet, but they'll be produced by the MLB for a look and feel fans are familiar with. But they're also the MLB's first digital-only broadcasts, and every team is on board: All 30 major league clubs unanimously approved the deal.

The Cubs probably won't be involved in more than a couple of these, though, and it's not like you have to pay for them, so I guess it's fine.

This is stupid. I assume it is only going to be "streaming exclusive", meaning we can still see the affected Cubs games on WGN, WLS, NBCSports (especially since the broadcast schedule has already been announced), but I still hate it. As an MLB.tv subscriber, I expect to be able to watch all the out-of-market games through MLB.tv. Would I really watch one of these mid-week afternoon games, maybe not, but knowing that I can't is annoying. And I don't want anything to do with Facebook.

Yeah, I use facebook often, but half of the point of having MLB is that I can lead the game and skip commercials or watch a game in the evening that occurred in the afternoon. If facebook gets more than 1 Cub game this year, I'm asking MLB for some of my money back.

You're still getting the game old man.

No different than Sunday Night Baseball or certain Fox Saturday games. It's also the same frequency and volume as Sunday Night Baseball.

You'd have a point if it replaced those, but it is in addition to those annoyances. And using a platform I have no interest in using.

It's certainly not good, I gave up Facebook a few months back and even then it's way harder to get onto a TV than other options. But it's not unprecedented, and it's also only wednesday afternoon games, so I'm not exactly going to be treating as appointment TV either.

There are so many damn Len and JD games that I've never understood this complaint when we get a national broadcast. I like changes of pace, even crappy ones.
