I'm not sure how a team that lost to a that that Iowa State beat by 24 gets to be 3rd.

Are you just saying that Iowa should be 3rd or that OU shouldn't be in the top-4 at all?

I don't agree with Oklahoma at third. I think i would have left Notre Dame there or i could see putting Michigan State in. I hate that Texas lost and the theme of losses not mattering as much as they should annoys me.

I suppose saying Michigan State should be contradicts me saying losses don't matter as much as they should but at least Nebraska is better than Texas and beating Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon seems more impressive than beating TCU with Boykin out and Baylor.

How about this. This would take some of the lame subjectivity from the playoff committee.

8 team playoff

1) Champion of ACC

2) Champion of SEC

3) Champion of Big XII (get one you dolts)

4) Champion of Big 10

5) Champion of Pac12

6) Best team from Group of 5

7) At large bid

8) At large bid

So really the playoff committee would only be choosing 3 teams.

I'm against the expansion of the playoff if only because the only way it would expand is through automatic conference champion bids. As long as there are divisions and unbalanced schedules, there should be no auto bids.

Yeah, I don't get why OU is ahead of Iowa but MSU is behind. MSU has better wins (8, 10 and 17, currently vs. 7 and 19) and the loss is probably about the same. The three 1-loss teams is tough and it all depends on what you emphasize. MSU and OU have better wins but ND has a significantly better loss.

Not sure exactly how I'd separate the three. Iowa at 4 doesn't make sense, though. Either have to put them in front of both OU and MSU or behind both.

I don't really like the idea of an 128 team league where teams only play 12-13 games being decided with a tournament of so few games and in such a subjective manner

To put it another way, there is absolutely no reason that Ole Miss, UNC, USC, or UCLA should have a shot at the title right now. If there were auto bids, they would have a shot.

I get that sentiment but if they get hot and go through the best teams in the country and beat them all do they then deserve that claim? That's pretty much what every champion in any other sport has to do.

And we've reached the crux of the issue, which is that I like having one sport where you have to be great all year and can't just get hot at the end. Every other sport you can lollygag through a bad division and just get hot at the end. I prefer it this way. I'm in the minority, I know.

Also, if there are auto bids and only 2 at large spots, I fail to see any incentive for anyone to schedule worth a damn out of conference.

Oklahoma 3, Iowa 4, MSU 5, ND 6. Anyone who thought ND was ever getting in over a one loss Oklahoma was naive. ND now needs 2 of those 3 teams to lose before the season ends - a win at Stanford wouldn't be good enough to leapfrog any of those teams.

1 of those 3 is guaranteed to lose.

If Alabama loses to Auburn or Florida, do they really deserve a playoff spot?

Absolutely not. I'd probably have them #4 right now as is.

This thread makes me happy OU didn't get rid of Bob Stoops last year.

And only a month and a half ago they were talking like he might leave after losing to UT.

If Miles is gone I think LSU believes they will get Jimbo. Miles reminds me of Mack Brown. Blew too many chances to win the conference, and team appears to be unraveling around him. He really limits what his offense can do and the defense has become increasingly worse the past couple of years.

hey alright, seven percent!

Also if the only scenario that can realistically get them in occurs (UM over OSU/Iowa, PSU over MSU) they have a 68% chance of getting in.

I wonder what the odds are if that scenario occurs and Iowa beats Nebraska this weekend.

Probably worse. UM beating a 12-0 Iowa would be a nice notch in their belt.

This Nebraska game is just terrifying.

Their results have been so weird this year. I have no idea what to expect.

They're a lot more talented than their record. And as much as they've fucked up some wins, they've also had some shitty luck. Pretty much an 8-3 type team. Coming off their bye while we're on a short week sucks too.

But then I think, [expletive] that, C.J.'s got this.

So I get Navy/Houston instead of Ohio State/Michigan? What in the ever living [expletive] is this???

Err Michigan/OSU is tomorrow...

Mother [expletive] [expletive] friend of mine. I was all excited for that this morning. I should have checked the schedule instead of letting that dickhole get me all excited.

Before the season, I thought Mizzou was an 8-9 win team that could win 9-10 games against their schedule. Once Mauk got suspended and the defense appeared to be elite, I figured 7-8 was more reasonable. But the offense has just been comically and inexplicably bad, with even a below average unit Mizzou probably finishes with 9 wins. An extra bummer that this is the team that sends off Pinkel.
