I'm debating hanging out outside of the stadium for the game. But I really want to watch it on TV. There's actually a stadium tour of PNC that day that I may go to.

We did the tour of PNC in June. It's worth the time/money.

Any opinion on Kelly's Sports Bar? Best I can see it's the only Cubs bar in the city.

I've never been, but I'm sure it actually will be filled with Cubs fans that night. Sounds like a few nsbbers will.

ct mentioned triona's on third (3rd avenue and east 17th street) as a cubs bar. kelly's doesn't have a wide selection of food, but you can order from other food spots nearby and they'll deliver to the bar. i'll be at windy city ale house in bay ridge or canal bar in gowanus.

windy city ale house will likely be a madhouse due to the blackhawks opening the season against the rangers. it serves as both a chicago bar and a very popular bar for rangers fans.

I'm already getting that nervous feeling in the pit of my gut just thinking about the possibility of losing that game. I'm also seriously considering putting in a request for next Thursday off work because I don't think I will be able to sleep if they win and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to function for a whole day (at least) if they lose.

.

This year's all gravy. Enjoy it. Pressure's going to be on the other teams.

All I know is Arrieta has a golden arm and Schwarber always comes through in the clutch in the big games.

I cant stand watching big games with people who aren't on my level for baseball knowledge, etc. I'd rather watch alone at home.

Arrieta pitch good, Maddon smart he has glasses

I just realized that I have a concert that same night. I've been dying to see this band for a while now. I am so [expletive] bummed. I already checked their tour dates and I can't catch them anywhere else either. Oh well, there's no way I am missing this game.

you could always pull the DVR move and just ignore anywhere that might be showing like ESPN or whatever on your way home from the concert. shouldn't be too hard to avoid having it spoiled considering where you live, assuming you REALLY want to see that concert

I'd have to completely turn my phone off, too. That wouldn't work. Someone would ruin it for me. I'm doing what I can to get to Austin this weekend to see them there instead. If not, I guess I'll just have to miss the show and hope I get to see them at some point in the future.

I will be in NYC that evening too with my wife. Anniversary trip. She didn't even protest the idea of catching the game somewhere.

No plans yet on where exactly to go. Jersey gave me some suggestions that I am exploring.

Whoa whoa whoa. A concert is bringing you down? Cubs in playoffs. Good team. God pitcher on mound and you're lamenting a concert?

What band?

Royal Blood

I'm a huge music fan. I've traveled all over, inside and outside of the country, just for concerts. I've been to around 20 this year alone. But as I said above, there is no way I am missing the Wild Card game.

Going to be watching at my buddies house. He's a big Cubs fan and has a huge TV. Also, we are watching together because we both know if we watch together we won't go into full on rage mode like we would if we were alone.

I'm relatively sure you'll have a chance to see Royal Blood again some time in the future.

You're most likely right, but I thought the same thing when I skipped an Eric Clapton show at Alpine Valley. That ended up being the night Stevie Ray Vaughan's helicopter crashed. I also skipped Pink Floyd's last ever Dallas show because I didn't feel good. I said I will catch them next time around. Oh well, I'm over it at this point. I'm just ready for Wednesday to come so we can get the Wild Card game going.

If we win, I'm going to be at a wedding Sat night. Hope there are TV's somewhere.

Reminds me of 03 when my sister got married during game 4 at the lincoln park conservatory and the only tv in the place was a shitty 13 inch tv with bunny ears. We had the game on and would run up and down updating the party. ended up being a great night, up 3-1 WS on the mind. Badgers beat #1 OSU on a 80+ yard TD pass.

I was \:D/ that night.

Planning a fall wedding is dumb.

Fall is my favorite season, so I get it, but I wouldn't have gotten married in the fall in a billion years.

It's my favorite season, too, but I deliberately planned mine away from all sporting events so that people would actually be paying attention!

You that starved for attention?

Fall weddings are awesome. Hot summer weddings are for idiots.

No, I don't want to pay several hundred dollars a plate for people to be chilling at the hotel bar all night!

Agreed that hot summer weddings are for idiots.
