I was a groomsman in an August wedding. It was my cousin's wedding, and the groomsmen were myself, my other cousin, and a bunch of the groom's college buddies (most of whom were grade-A douchebags).

So it was hot as hell, but some of the family had set up some cold drinks for the bridal party so we wouldn't die. I went to grab one and came to find out that the d-bag college buddies had grabbed them all to give to their dates.

There's absolutely nothing douchebag about sharing the wealth. The douchebag thing is flaunting wedding party cold beverages that other guests do not have access to.

This was meant for us during outdoor photos (while the rest of the guests drove ahead to the reception). The point is, some of the bridal party didn't get any cold drinks because the dates of the other groomsmen took them instead

I'd say whoever was in charge of that was a cheapskate and should have had more than enough for the dates and the party.

Yeah, if I'm in a bridal party and there's an embarrassingly small amount of booze, then the groomsmen buy more.

Bartman will not be going to the WC game. Take that, wedding people.

I'm imagining him sitting in the same seats with the same pop up hit towards him and him trying to scurry away in a heated panic from a possible repeat performance but he slips, falls out of the stands and lands on Bryant as he's about catch the ball.

i hope that whenever we win it, he actually feels comfortable showing his face and having some sort of cool moment because the whole thing is awful.

Bring him back after they win it. I don't trust Cubs/sports fans enough to not be awful to him if they bring him back for a playoff game or something and then they end up losing.

Bring him back after they win it. I don't trust Cubs/sports fans enough to not be awful to him if they bring him back for a playoff game or something and then they end up losing.

"They" shouldn't bring him anywhere. He probably doesn't want to be brought anywhere.

Think of it like that sacrifice scene from Temple of Doom.

Yeah he probably won't even come out during the World Series ceremony the following April after they win it.

Bring him back where? He's living a normal life, just doesn't feed into media(and other) morons.

I just feel like he got so much [expletive] and had to be so miserable that it would be nice for him to have a cool moment of some kind. It's meatbally, I guess. It was just so stupid that he had to endure what he did.

I had also heard that (maybe it was that ridiculous Wayne Drehs article years ago) he hadn't gone to a game since. Who know if that still is (or ever was) true. That just blows, though.

Yeah, I just think it would be cool since he got such a raw deal. Of course he doesn't have to do it, and they have to do it, but it would be a nice gesture.

Don't know if it means too much due to sample size, but the Cubs probably lineup (not counting the Pitcher) is 26 for 81 against Gerrit Cole, and that's good for a .320 average.

Bartman will not be going to the WC game. Take that, wedding people.

i hope that whenever we win it, he actually feels comfortable showing his face and having some sort of cool moment because the whole thing is awful.

Bring him back after they win it. I don't trust Cubs/sports fans enough to not be awful to him if they bring him back for a playoff game or something and then they end up losing.

It's amazing, in retrospect, how quickly his name, address etc. got out there. 2003 was year before Facebook and three years before Twitter. Sadly, I think his experience would be many times worse if it happened in 2015

i don't know how you guys are talking nlds already

i'm [expletive] terrified of wednesday right now and it only gets worse as it gets closer

I'm refusing to believe this team will do good things in the playoffs until they actually do. I'm a baseball doomsday prepper.

I'm right there with you. I'm confident but expect misery.

Win a playoff game. It has been a while.

It would be really fucked up for the Cubs to lose an Arrieta pitched game for the first time since July, in a 1-game elimination format. I'd be pretty sick to my stomach. I feel pretty good if the offense can push around 3 runs.

I know Arrieta has a longer track record than Medlen does but I keep thinking about the Braves-Cards game in 2012. He made 12 starts for Atlanta that year, all after July 31. They were 12-0 in those games and he had a 0.97 ERA over 83 2/3 innings. He'd given up 11 runs in those 12 starts but gave up 5 (only 2 earned) against St. Louis.

Well, it's a good thing we have Jake Arrieta on our team rather than Kris Medlen.

I'm still undecided who I want in the lineup for the game. Right now, I'm leaning towards Schwarber in RF, Baez at 3B, and Bryant in LF. I rather shore up the infield defense than the outfield defense since the majority of batted balls are grounders. Bryant has looked decent there, too. But I'm debating this because Coghlan has also been extremely valuable in LF this year and made major improvements to his defense overall. I don't know.

Part of me really wants Austin Jackson in LF for this game. I wouldn't even be upset if LaStella is at 3B, with Bryant in LF. But I think you go with the lineup that got you here, for the most part. Coghlan in LF/RF with Schwarber in the other, Castro at 2B, Bryant at 3B. Jackson, LaStella, and Baez will certainly get in the game at some point.

I wouldn't mind Jackson in LF for this one. I'd assume that Arrieta doesn't allow many hard hit balls in the gaps, because he's Arrieta, so that's why I'm more inclined to put Bryant out there in LF.
