I was at Wrigley for the clinch in 2008 and that was just an incredible feeling. They were on such a damn roll.

yeah. i mentioned it before, but if/when the magic number gets down to one going into a home game this week, i'm gonna try to snag tickets on stubhub. only game i have left of my tickets for myself is saturday's.

also i was in wrigleyville for that one, but not at the game. i think i watched the final out at trace.

Not sure the clinch will matter so much this season because of how far ahead the Cubs are and the fact that there's more business to take care of. The Pirates series is going to be awesome and if the last series of the season matters, Miller Park is going to be nuts

Where ya been, buddy? Have you seen that the Cubbies are in the midst of pounding the [expletive] out of your beloved Redbirds this series?

Working and driving. Listened to the game on radio today. Pat Hughes' call of the Russell play was tremendous.

That was pretty awesome. This damn team is doing a number on my emotions. I just got off the phone with my buddy who was in the bleachers today. He was excited, and I was excited, Then I hung up and got jealous that I wasn't there too. I am a mess.

I always forget how much I loved Lofton that year. Such a good player, and so damn cool. If he had spent most of his career as a Cub, he probably would have been one of my all-time favorites.

Because in his usual Pat Hughes' way he made it sound like it was big for the opposing team?

Why do Cardinals fans all say our bullpen is awful? If you ever read their board, that is brought up constantly. We only have two good starters, and our bullpen is awful.

A combination of the Cubs pen only being good instead of otherworldly, denial, and a disproportionate number of bullpen failures coming to the Cardinals this year.

In honor of #34 singing tonight and #34 pitching tomorrow...

Every once and a while I watch the HRs from Woody and Alou in that game. Even though I know how it ends, both still give me chills.

Same. I hadn't watched the Alou one in a while so pulled it up on youtube from a full game broadcast. God, does Thom Brennamen blow that call or what? I just kept imagining what Len would have sounded like calling that HR. And I have no idea who the other boob is in the booth with Thom but he sucks as well.

Any idea who would call the WC game? Not that it matter because the Cubs are going to win the central.

This. I [expletive] loved Lofton to death. Also, seeing young Aramis in that video and then thinking about seeing him again in the playoffs as a Pirate makes me sad. And I'm sure it'll be sad for him to lose to the Cubs if the Pirates win the WC game against the Cardinals. :(

TBS has the NL wild card game, I think, which would mean it'd likely be Brian Anderson, Smoltz and Darling right?

then they'd probably have a hard time explaining why the cubs have a better xFIP than the cardinals this season.

So I spent most of yesterday evening watching the Russell to Baez play over and over... then the damn Pirates won. I hope Schwarber gets a start today. I hope these guys can finish what they couldn't in St Louis. Time for the sweep!

The most fun part for me right now is how I just feel like I can assume the Cubs are going to win every single day they play. My dad was texting me about how worried he was going in to yesterday's game and all I could muster was:

If there was just a little more season left, I'd be more confident than anything that the Cubs could catch the Cardinals. Just so few games left.
